Very mixed feeling on this book, and already during the reading process I was making up my mind on this book. On the one hand it's from time to time inspiring, that the obvious and only reason I decided to continue reading this book. But then still one star, I hear you think. I just don't like the person Tim Ferriss and his ways to accomplish goals. Calling in sick, to test working at home. Pretending to be expert and to do that step-by-step. These ways feel like lying and cheating and do not find life style.
Some good points and the topic is interesting. However I found the tone of voice too difficult to handle.
Meh. I really hated to do it, but I DNF this. It just wasn’t enjoyable in my usually gratified self-help reading experience. I’m sure I read as a recommendation from MANY of my peers.
I agree with other reviews in that, other like-minded authors have written the same things…better. To be fair, a lot of these suggestions are likely less impactful since we are in a digital age. But it can all be summed up as “fake it til you make it.”
There was a chapter where he repeatedly said in so many words, if something can’t keep your interest, abandon it. Don’t waste your time finishing it. Each time, I would say under my breath, “like this book.”
The helpful takeaway from the 27% I read was to automate everything. I’m personally translating that to mean leverage and delegate. That is why I gave it 2 stars.
Maybe it’s just not the season I’m in. Maybe I’ll pick it up again in the future. Hopefully I won’t.

It wasn't the tract I'd always imagined this book would be. To start, a lot of the information wouldn't apply to me anyway, though there is some wisdom, especially in regards to taking practical, actionable steps for making room in your life to
(っ◔◡◔)っ ♥ Follow Your Dreams... ♥
Beyond that, there is a lot of information that's already very dated. I read the expanded edition, and that was so superfluous. What we need is not an expanded edition, what we could really use is a newer... uh.. reduced edition.

3.5 - I wish I had read the first chapters/last chapters and skipped the bloat in the middle. Not about to quit my job and travel the world after reading this, but did have some good tips/reminders on how to stay present and goal-focused. A lot of the business sectiony bits are extremely outdated, plus are based on underpaying people across the globe to do your admin, which is stinky and I don’t like it.
This book played a substantial role in changing my behaviour at work and then finally leaving to pursue self-employment. Not all things mentioned in the book might appeal to everyone but that’s not the point. The book makes you think outside of the box, look for solutions to get out of the grind and instead follow your dreams while enjoying life.
A few gems in here on productivity and efficiency but on the whole, the main themes are about making money and doing as little work as possible in some cases in a not very ethical way.
