If I could give it 3.5, I would. I bumped it to 4, though, rather than 3 because the story kept me engaged the whole time. Do I completely understand what happened? Not even close. However, I did like the writing style and things mostly came together at the very end, so it was worth reading.

I should know better to buy a book based on the hype around it.....still trying to figure out what I actually read. Feel like I just read 300+ page description of a character cast.

Pretty intense book. There's so many moving pieces I did not understand how they would come together, but for the most part they did.

All right, first and foremost, I don’t usually write books written by men because I don’t like how women are particularly portrayed in their works, but Caldwell has proved me wrong. This book is easily one of my favorite of the year, it is seriously so good.

There are multiple POVs, so if that isn’t your thing, I could see why someone wouldn’t like it. However, I eat it up as long as I have the ability to follow along and concentrate while reading. And the writing is BEAUTIFUL, the story itself is unique, and the characters all held my attention. I wanted to know all of their stories and was listening with bated breath.

I will be following (STALKING) Cadwell’s work and devouring all of it. I love being proved wrong.

A book to devour in one sitting, otherwise you might miss the looping spiraling narrative that hints at connections and foreboding before revealing it outright. Loved this book!

Riveting characters, fascinating world building, excellent prose. I just wish the ending had been a little stronger and less clearly setting things up for the sequel. (I might feel differently after reading that eventual sequel.)
