Away was not what I expected, but incredibly more so.
According to the books description I believed Colorado residents in different areas were displaced because of unnamed danger near their homes.
This book was so much more than described.
The parallels of evacuation camps the Colorado citizens find themselves in are eerily similar to those of WWII Nazi controlled concentration camps.
While there were no racial or religious themes, prevalence of today’s ecological and environmental conditions are similarly consistent.
The truth of the novel is seen through budding adolescent journalist and researcher eyes who seem to delve deeper into the world, and present it more clearly than the adults who surround them.
I highly recommend for middle grade novel studies!
