I had previously only read a few of Susan Lewis’ releases, so I had little expectation upon picking up this read. I managed to read this within two sittings thanks to the excellent writing by Lewis, and I was eagerly invested in the storyline incredibly early on.
The alternate, short, sharp chapters made for an exciting and intriguing read. The tension and dramas are well executed, and the family dynamics are complex but not draining. The storyline flows perfectly, and the pace picks up towards the thrilling conclusion.
A family drama with mystery weaved throughout; this is an incredibly engaging read. This a perfect introduction to this author or anyone looking for a thought-provoking read.
Thank you, NetGalley and Harper Collins UK, for a pre-release copy of this book.

I know in the acknowledgments the author mentioned researching DID but it did genuinely feel like she had watched ‘Split’ and decided that was good enough. I’m not sure if the characters were meant to be portrayed as out of touch or if this is a reflection of the writer, either way it was quite annoying. The constant use of the phrase ‘ring off’ to describe the end of a phone call was rather annoying too.
Overall this book was ok, I thought the set up was quite interesting but as soon as a ‘mystery condition’ was mentioned early on, I guessed this was DID pretty easily. Most of the characters didn’t feel like real people to me. I also think the ending was very predictable and the strange voicemail right at the end didn’t make sense to me.
2* because I found Blanche’s backstory interesting and the mystery kept me going enough to at least finish it.

This will be a short review, as I want to keep it spoiler-free. And there is a lot happening in this domestic suspense novel that can be seen as spoilers.
What you will quickly realise while reading “No One Saw it Coming” that all isn’t always what it seems. During the first couple of chapters, we are introduced to the affluent and elegant married couple, Jack and Hanna Madden. They are happily married, has got two children, and are pillars of the community. Yes, of course there is more happening beneath the surface.
An intricate family dynamic unfolds, with the unveiling of secrets as well as a few curve balls. There were a few twists that I did see coming, and I don’t know why it irritated me so much when I realised I was correct. But that is possibly only a personal opinion.
There is an entire cast of complex characters – not all likeable or reliable, which is fine as well! It did add to the dynamic and drama. As with the characters, the plot is also complex and convoluted.
The plot was well-paced, in my opinion, and it was a quick and enjoyable read. This book was well-written, compelling, and gripping.
At the centre, family relationships with several themes integrated herein – including mental health and betrayal, but also with loyal friendships (Seb was my favourite person in this book) and the will to stand up for what matters.
I am keen to read more of Susan Lewis’s books, it is a known fact that she a master in writing heart-stopping family dramas!
Thanks to Jonathan Ball Publishers for the opportunity to read this book.

Fantastic book, gripping from start to finish and certainly difficult to put down at times, some great twists although I guessed the major twist early on in the book regarding Riona nevertheless this didn't detract from my enjoyment. Cleverly written and portrayed from multiple POVs which enhances the reading experience.
I’m afraid I saw it coming a mile away. The twist is really obvious early on, and I just kept reading to confirm I was right.
The story itself is meandering and repetitive and none of the characters are particularly likeable.
