It’s not particularly mind blowing but it’s shit I needed to hear right now.

I DNF'd this book as I found the experiences Dooner discusses were not relatable to me. I understand how some people can find this book highly relatable and thus important to them.

Honestly, I was expecting a lot more from this. She finally got to the part about how to heal from burnout about 75% of the way through the book (and that part was good!). The rest of it was essentially a whiney memoir of a very privileged woman.

This was a good introduction to the idea of rest and how to combat the guilt many Americans feel about taking real rest and shedding expectations. I have read more helpful versions of this message and I didn't expect this to be an autobiography. There was a lot I could identify with in this book but I wish it had been written differently. It felt like a diary/blog and I was hoping for more talk about burnout and perhaps some stories that were not personal to the author. If you struggle with guilt around rest or feel oppressed by the expectations of others this is a helpful book that will touch the surface of the issue and encourage an examination of your lifestyle.
