Eh, was kinda uninterested in this one. I didn’t like the criminal’s backstory whatsoever.

After loving the Jeremy Brett version from the 90’s, I knew I needed to read this Holmes story soon. Probably the third or fourth most famous Conan Doyle Sherlock-story (after ‘The Hound of the Baskervilles’ and ‘A Study in Scarlet’), the ‘Sign of Four’ tells the story a search for lost treasure, and a man’s vengeance against those that took it from him. Whilst some of the narrative is dated by today’s standards, and themes regarding race and colonialism stand our starkly, it is still a classic Holmes mystery worth reading by anyone interested in this genre.

Read the synopsis on the back cover and be drawn once more into the world of Sherlock Holmes. If you like the movies or TV series, you have to read all of the stories as well.
