I really wanted to love this one, but the characters just didn’t work for me. Both Emily and Jameson were stubborn and often unlikeable, and they lacked the charm or redeeming qualities that usually make flawed characters worth investing in. Their chemistry was undeniable and the spice was definitely hot, but it wasn’t enough to make up for personalities that felt more frustrating than endearing. The storyline itself had a lot of potential and I liked the premise, but without stronger character growth or deeper emotional connection, it ultimately fell short of what I was hoping for.
I've so many mixed feelings about this book.
I don't even know where to begin.
She's a dumbass and he's an even bigger dumbass.
For the bigger part, I liked the book and the story. The fact that they meet again entirely by chance a year later was too cute. But... BUT... She tells him more than once to not insult her intelligence and then goes and falls into the oldest steup in the world.

I hated how these two grown adults could not communicate for shit without being mean to each other or storming off! Emily is a better woman than me because I would NEVER take back a man that talks to me like that just because he's stressed?! It was a one star read but I added the second one for Tristan (Jameson's better brother )

This was read was a little confusing for me. I enjoyed the characters and the plot, but it was a little frustrating at times. I totally understand why some people have issues with Jameson, he is a harsh/snappy character; I felt that Emily was similar so I think it evened out. My real issue was with the structure of the dialog. At time I had to guess who was speaking, its very unusual and hard to accurately explain. I did enjoy this book and will continue with the series 🙂
May I remind you that the guy is 37 year old, and the girl in her 20s but they really be arguing like teenagers. Through the entire book, they are either having sex like rabbits or they are arguing over miscommunications/ acting like amateurs in a relationship. It was good at the start, but it progressively gets worse.
It was around the 70% mark when I am extremely done with the book. Emily is literally crying over how Jameson is ignoring her because of the scandal she has with jake, while Jameson is literally involved in an embezzlement scandal that can land him in jail??? YOU’RE MORE WORRIED ABOUT HIM IGNORING U AND THE POSSIBILITY THAT THE RELATIONSHIP IS GOING TO END RATHER THAN THE FACT THAT YOUR BOYFRIEND MIGHT END UP IN JAIL????? Please let me understand your thinking. It’s ridiculous. It does not help that she went to the office when her scandal is all over the papers, to meet jameson and say that she loves him. Really? When he has much more things on his plate (with the possibility of jail term), you decided to go to him and tell him you love him and that the scandal isn’t real? Great priority btw.
Also, does anyone remembers Ava? The other girl in their team (I remember Ava, Molly, Aaron, and Emily are supposedly in a team? Correct me if I’m wrong). The built up when she said she doesn’t want Ava to know that she’s dating Jameson because “you know how she’s gonna be like when she knows I’m dating Jameson”, so I was expecting something from it?? I thought it was foreshadowing, but instead she was left out the remainder of the book as though she doesn’t exist.
Also might I add that they are toxic and I don’t think they should have gotten back together. But 2 negatives make a positive I guess, lol. I powered through the book after the 70% mark. This book is too unnecessarily long. It deserves a 1 star but an extra star is given because I am proud of myself for reading till the end.
