Sooooo where to begin!?
This book was sort of challenging for me to get through but I did want to finish it. Savvy is a woman scorned that decides to create a revenge body and upgrade herself after her ex basically tells her she’s let herself go. So she gets back in the gym, cuts her hair, etc. She’s also very much overworked and can be taken advantage of. She has a core group of friends who provide advice and support along the way and she meets a contractor that not only renovates her kitchen, but shows her that she’s beautiful just the way she is.
The negatives:
This book has a ton of conversations and content that is not necessary. I skimmed past quite a few segment’s because it was filler and did nothing to add to the story. I found myself questioning whether to keep reading a few times but the overall story is what kept me going. I found some of these pages to be trivial and made me feel like it was there to make the book longer. There was almost 3 pages of Savvy talking about food she was cooking. I skipped all that.
Throughout the story, Savvy continuously runs into her ex Jason. Like almost every other day. That made no sense to me at all. After the 3rd time, it became too much. Like who runs into their ex that much?! Ridiculous.
Spencer is a good LI but I don’t think we got to know very much about him. There wasn’t any depth to him as a person, just a good looking guy with a good job. We don’t know anything about his background or really anything about him.
Positives:
I think Savvy is a great MC. I’ve definitely been where she is and have felt the way she has before. I found her irritating at some moments but I found her to be relatable for the most part.
I wouldn’t pick this up to read again, but overall it was a nice story and can be read easily.

Although a cute read, I found the main character to be unbearable at times.
Wayyyyy too much tennis. I kept expecting her to reagitate her injury or for something to happen during one of these workouts... but nope it's just more tennis jargon and savvy doing laps. Spencer was so bland. And while I appreciated his patience in contrast to Jason, he was SO patient and SO understanding, even when Sav repeatedly assumed bad things about him (that he was homeless, that he was "cheating" when he gave absolutely no indication of even looking at anyone but Savvy....even though she refused to define their relationship and was dating other dudes IN FRONT OF HIM). Spencer was a bit too perfect for my taste. Kind of a let down.
When Savannah, "Savvy" Sheldon's longtime boyfriend breaks up with her, she embarks on a revenge body plan. This plan actually leads Savvy to discover who she really is and what she wants out of live. She learns that she can really depend on her friends. She develops new friendships and finds a new love interest.
This book was a delight to read. It was really encouraging to see Savvy set boundaries with her mother. I love the friendship between Savvy and her friends. I hope Taj McCoy develops them and writes books around their lives.

Not only was I rooting for the main couple, but I was rooting for the main character. Savvy Sheldon is a lovely little comfort read, with a sweet romance. My only issue with this book, hence the 4stars, was the writing style. It felt at times like when you find a recipe online and have to go through the authors whole backstory before getting to the ingredients. There was far too much exposition. Cooking scenes, recipes, outfits, unnecessary scenes between characters that didn't move the plot forward. It took me twice as long to read because I had to get through large chunks of texts that didn't add to the story at all. Underneath it, though, the story itself was fun to read and felt really empowering.
I really related to this book and Savy on so many levels! Currently on my own journey to find “peace” and balance within my life. I loved the relatability of the characters and the storyline.
It’s really hard for me to think about how I feel about this book. So I provided a mid-rating. one of things that I like is that the author was descriptive, but I wish that there were less details in regards to things that didn’t add to the plot of the story like multiple vivid long scenes about tennis, recipes and paperwork. I also think that the majority of the book was about the character, struggling with her body image. I do like that she had supportive friends and I liked that she was trying to figure herself out. This book is very relatable but more of her post unhealthy coping skills would’ve been nice to read about.
