So disappointed. If you have any history of disordered eating or body image issues, please don’t read. This book really fueled diet culture and oversimplified personal transformation.
I was so excited for a romance featuring a fat heroine. Instead I felt yucky.

Billed as a romance but read as general fiction with romance sub plot. Cut the relationship and the book still stands.
I really wanted to lover this book but Savvy's issues were all wrapped up too quickly and neatly. She just decides she's going to work out and eat better and...does. There's no fall off of motivation, no friction with her job (until the very end and that too, is resolved neatly and with no resistance from the folks around her), no scarcity of time or money or knowledge, she becomes instant besties with a Michelin starred chef who wants to do a cookbook with her becuse she's just such a good cook. Ultimately, it was unsatisfying without any struggle, even if I did love Savvy and wanted her to have every good thing.
Also, there was just so much tennis. The many tennis and cooking scenes drug and didn't add much to the plot and I just skimmed.

On a deeply personal level this resonates with me. I was screaming yes for Savvy. Shouting hell yeah in the car. But massive trigger warning for body issues and fat shaming. Savvy faces a lot and has deeply internalized issues, it’s part of why I identify with her, but depending on your journey this book may not be right for you.
I loved this book just wish it had just a little more to it
This was very enjoyable but it wasn't fully a romance. It was more of a contemporary book with a hint of romance.

Oh my god was this book surprisingly emotional! I really enjoyed reading on Savvy’s journey to self love and confidence. Everyone in her life (outside of Jason but he is a mere footnote) was so supportive of Savvy and never let her bring herself down, that shit was the best aspect of this book! Joanie and Maggie supported her and participated with her when she needed that boost reminding her she was perfect as is but also knowing she wanted to do this revenge body journey and thus went along with her, they never let her doubt herself but were also firm when she needed them to be!!
It wasn’t just Savvy’s friends but the mmc Spencer was just as supportive and enamoured with Savvy. From when we met him her never once made her feel lesser than, for context her trash boyfriend dumped her because she “let herself go” and whilst Savvy was on this revenge body journey Spencer never belittled her for it nor for her body, boy loved her in every way😌
Also whilst the “revenge body” felt a bit ‘umm ok🤨’ at first, it definitely felt like Savvy quickly let go of the need to get back at Jason and actually just enjoyed her herself trying new things and rediscovering her love for Tennis and sport, no extreme methods at all.
