I loved this book! A fantasy twist on overcoming a broken heart and the process it takes to heal.

Emma has had her heart broken. In a moment of weakness, she wishes her heart away. Just like that it is taken, now she can’t feel anything at all. According to the man that took it, she can get it back all she has to do it go out and find the pieces.

I really enjoyed this graphic novel. I thought the art was so expressive. I loved that our main character didn’t look like the “standard” beauty. She was curvaceous and spunky.

She was also a flawed character. I didn’t really love her but my heart did go out for her. I thought Emma was funny, but cruel. She was very single minded in her quest, that she hurt some people in the pursuit.

I do wish the graphic novel was a bit longer. I did think the storyline was rushed a bit, things could have been better explained . . . a cat could have been found.

I give this graphic novel an A-

This is a gorgeous little comic. The art style is stunning, for starters. And the story is heartfelt (heh), exploring the idea that we can't try to rid ourselves of pain without losing all the good that comes with those moments of struggle and heartbreak. I teared up near the end, with the themes of family, and I loved Brock very much, as well as Pete.

Don't let the GR tags fool you though; while there is a gay side character, the main character only has relationships with men (and it's never suggested she's LGBT)--just in case you're like me, and kept waiting for the bisexual vibes to start.

Just lovely. It's knocked down a star because I wish it was a little longer, and had given itself more space to really dig into some of the emotional headspace that Emma found herself in. There would be an emotional beat at the end of each chapter/"piece", and there was no time to breathe or swim in before the next began. It meant that some moments lost their edge for me, although maybe that's a consequence of reading this as a graphic novel, rather than as it was released.

Loved it. I don’t have the words to express how much. So touching and beautifully presented. I want more of this. All of this.

What a lovely story. Interestingly plotted, drawn and executed. A real redemptive tale and, to be repetitive, simply lovely.

More thought out review: My thoughts could not be contained in a comment so they are in this video: https://youtu.be/pHvYc8-S-e0?t=3m41s
