It took me half the book to get into this. it’s slow and kind of… passively written? Old-fashioned? Pretentious? I don’t know how to describe it. Anyway, by the end, I loved it. It’s kind of a more classy version of one of the romantasy books that are everywhere

The last hundred pages were amazing, still they cannot make up for 350 pages of boredom and detailed descriptions of tea trinking and cleaning. The writing style is rather inconsistent, sometimes typical YA sometimes like YA but trying to be classic literature.
All in All it is 2,5 stars for me mainly due to the boring first 350 pages and the main characters, who were neither boring nor unlikeable. They simply existed in a way, that made it very difficult to connect with them and understand their actions. I am however sure, that the next books will be much better.

This book was so much better than I expected. The first 100 pages were slow but I genuinely couldn't put the book down after that. I loved the characters, the world and I'm excited to see more about Cyrus in the next book. A really good read.
