I loved this book! Super action packed with a lot of planning, black ops, spy operations and a badass leading lady who uses her brain to solve problems and think on her feet. I could not put this book down!

A little slow to start but I was hooked by the end. A fun, suspenseful escapist read that when it ended felt like I was saying goodbye to friends. She sure is great at characterization!
I saw a youtube video ridiculing this book, so naturally I had to read it.
While it got downright ridiculous (and insanely unhealthy) at pretty much everything involving the relationship between the two main characters, there were a couple of parts I enjoyed:
- SM still writes entertaining "plain girls";
- Pretty much every Val was great;
- Fluffy combat doggos!
- The action/science gets so ridiculous at some parts, that it's plain old fun.
While the plot isn't anything super-revolutionary, it's definitely on-par with your regular airport-action-book, so it definitely doesn't deserve all the hate it was getting.

This is a 3.5 that I'm rounding up because I love Stephenie Meyer. Mad props to her for getting out of the supernatural and sci-fi thing and doing something different. I don't know that she was as successful as she could have been, but I really liked that she changed things up. And lucky for me, I'm into thrillers lately. Like other reviewers have stated, this is really a Jason Bourne-esque story, but with a female protagonist. The story started off kind of slow and a bit jerky, but once I got into it, I was INTO it. There are a lot of problems with the narration, the plot, the believability, the romance... but I kind of didn't care. I really did enjoy the book. I was able to look over the problems. Most people probably won't, but that's okay. I liked it a lot.

Good story!
Likes: This was a face paced, well-researched read. I enjoyed the plot and characters and of course, Meyers excels at capturing with words those moments all people crave-- like what it means to love and care about someone. The book got technical at times so I ended up skimming a lot of descriptions of stuff but hey. I really loved the dynamic between the characters, some sweet and laugh out loud moments. Allusions to sex but not graphic, lots of gory mayhem but also awesome dogs throughout. Much better than other books I've read of the same plot.

Spoiler
there was no real interaction with the villain. It's the main baddy and he barely knows any of the people he's put on a death list? And they end up not directly confronting him. Eh. A bit anticlimactic, but I suppose real life can be like that.
I can’t say enough about this book. It grabbed my attention from the first chapter and kept me interested the entire time, which is rare for me these days. I loved Alex and Daniel’s new relationship but I also loved Alex and Kevins ‘sibling’ love and action packed story...and I always love a satisfying ending!
