3.5 stars. This book was very different from Twilight, which for me was a good thing. The storyline was intriguing and suspenseful.
I like it. I'm not that pushed by the twilight books, they're OK, so really I wasn't judging it from the authors previous work. It was a decent read, I'd read more like it. Nice work.
This book was pretty fun. The action was fast-paced, and it was super escapist. Totally unrealistic. Kind of cheesy romance. But fun! I'll probably have forgotten about it by next week.
We'll just ignore the basic fact that torture has been proven to be useless as an interrogation method, of course. The story would have ended before it began if that had ever been mentioned. Girlfriend would have been out of a job.
The narrator was pretty awesome.
(Stephenie Meyer, I'm sorry for judging you super hard even though I'd never read any of your books before. I hate-watched all the Twilight movies instead of reading the source material. The movies were pretty bad, but I'm sure you got a cut of my ticket purchase, so you're probably not mad.)

She must hide to save her life from them, but when they contact her is it to redeem or trap her? Of course, I wanted to read this because it's Meyer, but I did find this a fresh adult novel from her. Fresh because there are some of the same Meyer elements such as a jump right into the action, female protagonist, and a twist; however, the action is vampire-free and the twist is not what I expected from Meyer. I recommend this book to anyone who is loyal to Meyer, but who is also interested in a bit of espionage from with a female protagonist.
Not my favourite... it was sooooo long! A lot could be cut out to keep the reader engaged. I wouldn’t recommend this one... I couldn’t wait to get it over with :(

DNF. Tawdry romance masked as an espionage thriller. Reads like a textbook {too much tell, not enough show}. Convoluted, flat plotline. One-dimensional characters who bore you to tears. So much no, I can't even.
The book starts out a little slow, but picks up a quarter of the way in. I found it a good read with a bit of romance mixed in with some action. A few questions left unanswered (did they go back and get Lola or Khan or what?), but overall I really enjoyed it!
This is first book I have read by this author. I now understand the accolades from other writers. The story takes the reader down several paths. The twists and turns are at times unexpected and at others times fairly predictable. However the writing style does not interfere with the enjoyment of the book. The characters' backgrounds are revealed though flashbacks, dialog between the characters as well as reflections of the main character. The story builds until the end and is wrapped up nicely. I had trouble putting it down and finished reading it in two days. Would be a great rainy day read.
