Probably 3.5 stars. Stephenie Meyer is a terrible writer but a great storyteller. Suspension of disbelief is a must for this book, but it's fast paced and fun with likeable characters, including some awesome dogs.

What an awesome book! I am so glad she wrote another one she is great! I loved it! Now where is the host sequel !!!

This is a really hard book for me to rate. There are a lot of things that I wasn't crazy about--such as the romance, the way I guessed many of the plot twists in advance, and the ending. And yet, despite that, I was always eager to read it, I read it quite quickly, and didn't really realize the things that bugged me about it, until I sat back and really thought about it.

Was this the best book that I have ever read? Definitely not. Was it something I'll read again? Unlikely. Was it enjoyable while I read it? Yes. Would I read a sequel if one were to be written? (For the record, I don't see this as a book with a sequel. To me, it was a standalone book with a conclusive ending.) But, were there to be a sequel I would give it a shot.

3.5 stars

Oh, and I should add that this is an adult book. There is a fair amount of violence and adult relationships. Nothing that was too graphic in my opinion. But, not something I would recommend for a young adult either.

This book didn't grab my attention from the start but once the main character began to interact with other people it really picked up and was enjoyable.

I’ve been wanting to read this for years. Finally gave it a chance and was disappointed. I liked the concept but couldn’t get into the characters or setting. Fell very flat.

Good in the way that a trashy romance novel is good. (not a trashy romance though, super PG. just pretty poorly written but still enjoyable if you don't try to poke holes in the plot or characters)

I'm not a fan of the Twilight series but I loved The Host, so of course I was going to read this book by Stephenie Meyer that has nothing to do with Twilight. I didn't like this as much as I liked The Host though. There were a lot of things that didn't make sense and were wayyy too convenient; like how it was so easy for
Spoiler Daniel to forgive Alex for what she did to him. I mean, really?? Also, the twin thing should've been pretty obvious for someone who was supposed to be a genius and one step ahead of all the assassins that had ever gone after her. Not to mention, for someone who was so paranoid and took such extreme measures with her security in the beginning, she was really forthcoming about telling the truth about everything to Kevin, and later on trusted Val too easily.

So yeah, a lot of the plot depended on the characters being simple and everything turning out so convenient for them. However, if we put that aside and just focus on the storytelling, Stephenie Meyer's writing is really easy to read and enjoy. The story flowed well and I was still entertained by it, but I don't see myself rereading this book anytime soon. It was good for me as an escape and distraction from real life though.

Stephanie Meyer is an overrated author. There is very little to keep me reading here
