This book was full of twists and turns that made me really sad. I was also sad to learn this was the last book. I'm glad it turned out okay, but wow that was an emotional ending.
Charlaine Harris has done it again. I've had my suspicions about what happened to Cameron, & all I can say is wow...
A great ending! I've read the other books, and I've always figured out who the bad guys were, but this one constantly had me changing my opinion, and it surprised me pretty much until the very last word. I'm sad to say goodbye to Harper Connelly, she's such a great character and soooo different from Sookie and the world she inhabits. I love Harper's "talent" and I'll miss Manfred. Boy will I miss Manfred. Maybe he'll get his own book? Or somehow end up in Sookie's orbit. If she can't be with Eric, then I wouldn't mind her with the Pierced One.

The mystery of Harper's sister Cameron's disappearance is finally solved in this last book of the series and it's something I wasn't expecting...

their rich client Lizzie's long time boyfriend Chip and Lizzie's brother Drex had killed her grandfather and tried to hide the fact that Chip had a baby with their housekeeper and got rid of the baby so many years ago. When they failed to keep the truth from coming out, and after Chip discovered that he was dying from cancer, he wanted the truth to come out and take his accomplish with him. He admitted that they were responsible for shooting Tolliver and killing their private investigator friend, as well as the police officer who was protecting Harper, and then Chip killed Drex before killing himself.
While they helped solve a part of the mystery, Harper and Tolliver still had to confront Matthew, who confirmed that they were right that he had swapped the babies in an ill-conceived scheme to blackmail the rich people at some future point. What none of them realized was that Mark also knew about the swap, and so did Cameron, who discovered the truth and confided in the wrong person before going to the police...
Mark, wanting to protect his father, killed her before she could, and had been keeping her body in a storage shed away from anywhere Harper could find it.
Harper finally found out what happened to her sister as well as her body, with the intervention of her psychic friend Manfred, since Mark refused to tell her where the body was. Mark and Matthew ended up in prison, while their sisters remained with their aunt, despite the truth regarding Gracie's true parentage
It's not exactly an "all's well that ends well" story, but Harper and Tolliver do manage to finally put the past behind them and

Pretty good conclusion to the series. A great build-up and a VERY quick wrap-up of the whole thing. I read the large print edition (the only version of this book my library has) and it was still only a page or so. Overall a very interesting series that I liked a lot.
As usual, the first in the series was the best. She is good at setting up an interesting premise but not so great at following through and developing. This one at least ties everything up in a neat bow. Most of her series tend to leave room to go on and on and on (ex: True Blood). The series are decent one to two day beach reads
Grave Secret gives a satisfying conclusion to Harper Connelly's travels with her step brother. The characters, the mystery, and the romance remain exciting, enticing and enjoyable. The book is the perfect length. It gives space for the reader to put together some (possibly all) of the pieces to the mystery that is the focus of the book. It is filled with the type of nuanced descriptions that make Charlaine Harris a best selling creator of mysteries. I greatly enjoyed it, and have it in my "read again" pile so that I can pick up on any puzzle pieces that I missed.
