Maybe it’s because it took me sooooo long to finish this book, but it wasn’t my favorite. I generally enjoyed the characters and story. Just kind of slow and didn’t hold my interest like other books by this author.
I don't know how I felt about this book. It was not my favorite of her books, but I did like the story. I think the order in which she told some of the events got kind of confusing, and it had just a few too many minute details. But the plot was good!

Very heart warming, comical, and page turning book. Moriarty has keen insights on human nature and dilemmas of modern life which she sprinkles generously throughout the book. As a tennis player, I loved the tennis family theme. Perhaps my main criticism is that I felt the murder mystery solving was weak and not that plausible. The creepy end with Savannah was a surprise and made me wonder if there won't be a sequel.
I usually love all her books but this one was harder for me. An easy read but the ending was terrible

So torn on this one. I LOVED it until Joy returned home and then I was so confused as to why THAT was why Joy went missing for 3 weeks. It felt a little rushed and like LM was backed into a corner and had to write her way out of it—like she actually decided against killing off her beloved darling and then plopped her down at a unplugged retreat and conveniently her dog ate the note telling her family where she went?
No. I did not like that part but I do love a family drama and I do love the way that LM writes chaos. It could have been about 100 pages less but the details were not annoying or too much and I really did like it I just wish the ending had been a little more impactful.
ETA: i want to grab every single author by the shoulder and shake them until they believe me: WE DONT NEED TO ADD COVID TO BOOKS ANYMORE WE ALL HAVE TRAUMA FROM THAT TIME PERIOD NO NEED TO CONTINUE TO BRING IT UP

I don’t love tennis. I knew this was about a tennis playing family, but I really didn’t realize how much of this would be about tennis-related themes. Overall, it was a decent storyline. Moriarty has a gift for propelling a narrative forward by incorporating a dozen character storylines. I think I might have Big Little Lies on a pedestal, which makes it hard to be as pleased with every subsequent work, but I’ll still read everything she writes.
Good read. Really had me going until the end, which was way more wholesome than I expected.
