As all short story collections go this book also had a mixed variety. I loved the story by Libba Bray <3 <3 of course (5 stars) very spooky and engaging. The story by Cassandra Clare was also better than the rest. All in all a light and easy read.

I want a couple of this stories to become full novels, maybe even series! My favorites were “I don’t like your girlfriend” by Claudia Gray and “Nowhere is Safe” by Libba Bray. Maine Johnson’s “Law of Suspects” was quite different from her work but very good.

objectively speaking, one of the worst anthologies i've ever read. the only reason I'm giving 2 stars is because I liked one of the stories: "I Don't Like Your Girlfriend." That was the only good one imo. some of the others were written awkwardly, or had plot holes, or incomprehensible characters.
medium-paced

Decent enough anthology. As with all collections, some are better than others. I didn't really love any of them, but they werent bad.

Story #1: Gal pals on a cruise and one is determined to "do it" for the first time... but best beware-- rumor has it vampires are about. Quick, light and enjoyable. 3/5

Story #2: Witches on their annual beach vacation. One witch-in-training suspects her rival of breaking a serious rule and be-spelling her hunky boyfriend. A bit predictable, bit fun. 3/5

Story #3: Sisters in a remote cottage in southern France are embroiled in a curious, potentially-murderous story. Who is telling the truth? Psychology, gore, a handsome neighbor, and more in this fantastically twisted tale. 5/5

Story #4: Family honeymoon in Jamaica-- as if that isn't bad enough her new step brother is the fellow she's been lusting after for ages, her step dad is an ass, and there just may be a vengeful witch living down the beach from them. Excellent tale filled with vivid description, but I wanted a bit more out of the end. 4/5

Story #5: Bored kids go off the beaten path into a small town in remote Eastern Europe and discover a town that allegedly once worshipped the devil with human sacrifices. Creepy, exciting, eerie-- I hope we see more of Poe. 5/5

Only read three of the stories, but maybe I'll come back to this one day...
Sarah Mlynowski's Cruisin' was ridiculously bad. The writing was juvenile and the story so predictable. I won't be revisiting this author's writing any time soon.
Claudia Gray's I Don't Like Your Girlfriend was also on the juvenile side but I enjoyed the protagonist and the story kept me engaged. I continue to be entertained by Ms. Gray.
Maureen Johnson's The Law of Suspects was awesome. This is what a short story should be! Twisty, turny, and to the point. I have added the author's latest work to my TBR :)

Younger me would have prob rated this 5 ⭐️s. I really enjoyed all the stories in this anthology, though I found a few to be a bit juvenile. I wish I had read this during a vacation because it would have been perfect. Libba Bray’s Nowhere Is Safe was the standout for me and perfect way to end the book.

It was ok. The Cassandra Clare and Libba Bray stories are definately worth reading!
