i was really interested in this book but the, no exaggeration, CONSTANT references to BARBIE (2023) is deeply off-putting. i'm 37 and i feel like i'm being lectured by a very intelligent and capable woman who is just desperate for teenage girls and women in their early 20s to like her and think she's cool. it's such an odd choice for the tone, considering the subject matter.

This was incredibly depressing but fascinating to hear how we got to this dark dark place. The author did a great job simplifying complicated legal concepts and adding fun modern references and analogies. I only wish there had been more concrete ideas for how to change things besides, basically, to vote (which I already do in literally every election, no matter how minor).

A definite must read about the current Supreme Court situation. Strict Scrutiny is a fave podcast and I could listen to Leah drag the conservative justices all day š
Informative, infuriating⦠the pop culture references and analogies were fun but felt forced sometimes. I appreciate the many Taylor Swift citations.

This book is very interesting and informative. However, I had to keep pausing and coming back to it because hearing about all the things the Supreme Court has done and continues to do made me too crazy/enraged.
