I’m not really sure why I didn’t care for this book. It was fine for a light read, but it kind of felt a little preachy with a “books are holier than thou” type of attitude.

I just love a fable.  I really do.  Especially one of the cozy fantasy variety.  This read like Alice in Wonderland, or Howl's Moving Castle -- two favorites of mine in the genre -- and it carried with it an important and ever more timely message about the importance (and necessity) of both books, and empathy, and the way the two are inextricably entwined.
