In the Time of Our History, by Susanna Pari, is a beautifully well-written story on the lives of an Iranian- American family after the 1979 Islamic Revolution. Moral dilemmas and familial grey zones express themselves through complex characters. The author focuses on a few different perspectives besides Mitra, which made the story more dynamic and raw. This book would lead to brilliant discussion in a book club. I loved it and will recommend it again and again!

It's such a good, hard read. Peaking into another culter, and dealing with hard topics like immigration, childhood trauma, rape, family secrets, and so many other things. It was an engaging, beautiful, and sad story and there is all the feels

This book is very much all relationship building with little plot. It feels like mostly exposition with a dive into family secrets. I can appreciate that, but by the end of the book, I just found myself losing interest, especially as certain characters got so insufferable. Yusef - I'm looking at you bro

For fans of Pachinko, this is a beautiful, heartbreaking novel about an Iranian-American immigrant family. Parts of this story are definitely hard, so maybe look up trigger warnings? But, the realism, the redemption, the beautiful writing. Ah! This is definitely one I know I will want to reread in the future.
