Dr. Jekyll und Mr. Hide ist schon eine Geschichte von der man schon viel gehört hat. So kannte ich auch schon den Plot, bevor ich das Hörbuch gehört habe. Ich fand ja schon die Idee genial, aber ich habe echt nicht erwartet, dass die Umsetzung von der Idee so super geregelt wurden ist. Dazu war der Schreibstil erstaunlich simpel und auch flüssig. Ich frage mich, ob es an den Autor liegt oder ob die Übersetzung es einfach "verständlicher" gemacht hat. Jedenfalls will ich es auch irgendwann auf Englisch hören oder lesen ... oder beides. Es ist jedenfalls ein Reread wert.
Der Sprecher war auch super ausgesucht. Seine Stimme passte zu der Geschichte und er hat es echt super vorgelesen. Das ist jedenfalls ein Sprecher, den ich mir merken werde und mal schauen werde, welche Hörbücher er noch so "vertont" hat. Irgendwie kommt mir seine Stimme auch bekannt vor. Vielleicht habe ich ja schon mal, was von ihn gehört.
Der einzige Nachteil ist, wenn man schon viel von einen Buch gehört hat, steigert sich irgendwie auch die Erwartungen. Hätte ich wahrscheinlich vorher nichts davon gehört, wären es garantiert fünf Sterne, aber mir hatte dann doch etwas gefehlt. Was eigentlich nicht schlimm ist, da das Hörbuch nur ca. 3 Stunden geht, also ist das relativ kurz. Ich bleibe trotzdem bei meine vier Sterne, da ich andere 5-Sterne-Bücher von mir eindeutig besser finde. (Aber bis jetzt ist es mein Lieblingsklassiker)

I'm glad I finally read the original story of the "Jekyll and Hyde" concept. It was different from what I expected, seeing as it was written from a more distant narrative, so to speak. As in, it was written from the perspective of the observers of the events, with only one chapter from the perspective of the main character.
I think I would've liked to see the journey Dr. Jekyll went through in more detail, I feel like one chapter was too small for all that.
The second story in this edition, called "The Bottle Imp" was a very peculiar and enjoyable story. It was a nice addition, in my opinion.

Interesting book. I like how it was first told from an outsiders perspective and then at the end we got to see the perspective of the "villain". I like and agree with the idea that there are two parts to everybody. Everyone has their "evil" side.

I only read Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde because it was an assignment from school. I didn’t really enjoy it, but it was quite a good plot line.
