Fear reigns supreme as the world fears rain supreme. Amazing.

4.5 stars. Hilarious and interesting.

A great way to get my 11 year old interested in science.

A very fun book! The footnotes and cartoons alone had me laughing out loud. Thanks, Lij for the recommendation

It's a good read, has a lot of interesting scenarios that you might've thought of at least once. And it definitely get's one curious to learn more about the world around us (space, physics, how big explosions can get, etc). Besides that, one can say that it's just a book of interesting facts and it is one of those books to give to a friend/coworker because its quirky and juuust not boring/detailed enough to repel away potential readers. End of the day, the book was enjoyable, love xkcd, but I doubt I'll read the sequel if it is more of the same.

I loved this book so much that I purchased two more copies to give out as gift this holiday season.

"What if" books are either very good or rather bad. I mean, there's been so many of them in so many different flavours that it's really hard to get good questions and provide an interesting analysis. Randall's book is quite good with regard to that - I had fun reading it, and I've learned some new stuff (for example, how a destroying angel works). If anything, the obligatory ending jokes felt bit forced at the times. But it was an interesting book, well written and decently illustrated.
