slowspeedreader's review against another edition

DID NOT FINISH

Gave the book to a friend who never returned it.

this was an entertaining read but something completelyyyyyy different to what i would normally pick up

it was a little too scientific for my taste (although the title does hint to that) and i did find some of the general ideas to be a little repetitive

my fave chapters were: soul mates; flyover states; and lost immortals - i found myself to be more drawn to the questions asked and answers given here

honestly probably a solid 3.25-3.5 ⭐️

nice to start off the year learning about many different ways to hypothetically destroy the earth

Some of the questions were fun. Just a tough book to sit down and read all at once. Was burnt out on it by the end.

This book is everything you never knew you wanted, and some of Monroe's absolute best work yet, pulling back the thin veil of science on the fragile, razor thin edge of interworking forces that keep all us of tethered to this water soaked glob and not spinning off the surface to freeze-suffocate in the soundless, lonely depths of the universe (yet).

As a former kid of 1001 questions, these were the types of science books I wanted to read. Now as an Adult, I get to enjoy them with all the glee of the child inside me. I also have PLENTY of conversation starters/ icebreakers thanks to this book.
