the first time i watched Voyager, i did it completely out of order. i would watch the episode that was on tv and not care which season it was supposed to be. so it is fitting i start reading the Voyager books completetly out of order too. i have mixed feelings about this book. for the most part, i enjoyed it and the story and the characters. but somethings bothered me and made me go "whyyyyyy?". but it made me curious to read more of the books and see how some of the events mentioned came to pass!

A Janeway from another timeline is discovered to be a leader in an alien war. The crew must determine why, how to rescue her, and what to do with her once they have her. The Kim/Conlon background drama is kind of overblown and the "I love you" stuff is WAY too fast. The whole premise of what if Katherine had a baybee! is a copout and an unfortunate take on an iconic character in my opinion. Beyer nails the voices of the crew most of the time, but sometimes she forces them into out of character behaviors and it shows.
