I felt very lucky to have received an ARC for this book! I loved Offside so much and Shutout didn't disappoint at all! I definitely have a thing for nicknames now. Lol! Appreciate the mental health rep (ADHD, Stress/Burnout). Burnout is very real and it does mess up with your head. I'm glad this book tackled it. The chemistry between Ty & Sera was undeniable. #audiobookscene -> that's all I'm going to say. Tyler is just

they were so cute

6-Star read for me! This book is pure perfection! I’ve read it three times this year, and so many scenes live rent free in my mind. The chemistry between Hades and Tink is absolutely swoon-worthy. That poor guy falls so hard for her, and I’m all for it! I also appreciate that there’s no third-act breakup—it’s refreshing when authors can create drama without relying on that trope. Definitely my favorite contemporary sports romance of 2024!

Loved the Hades/Tink pairing- definitely my fav book in the series so far. The spice is spicing nicely. Loved the characters and storyline. Looking forward to more!!

This was a roommate romance. The other roommate was the fmc, Seraphina’s, brother. The mmc was told to be a manwhore (not a good look) and the two met on a hookup at a Halloween party. They were in costume so she didn’t see his face & he didn’t know who she was.

This goes from a hookup to friends with benefits, to more. It’s also grumpy sunshine & brother’s friend.

There’s the typical brother who doesn’t want his sister to date his friend. Although, I think this book handled it better than many.

There’s a medical issue that doesn’t get resolved immediately. It wraps around the other plot points, but just enough. The story has enough elements to not get bored. It was enjoyable although if you took a shot every time someone talks (either internally or out loud) about rose gold or pink, you might die quickly. Good for a rainy day.

[Started this book as a buddy read as per the other person’s request]

Don’t get me wrong, it was an enjoyable read. I liked the care with which Sera’s and Tyler’s struggles were handled. However, I was not aware of the spice levels of this book going into it?? Misleading cartoon covers strike again? Frankly, I ended up skipping every scene in which they were doing anything remotely sexual because it was just far too much. If more focus had been placed on their blossoming relationship, the difficulty of his hockey career, her mother and her cancer diagnosis- then maybe the rating would be higher. It’s a promising plot which just gets drowned out by spice which I find to be rather disappointing.

So yeah, I skipped whole chapters due to their content which I just was not vibing with. Other than that, their romance (the clean bits) was beautiful and I really connected with the characters- both as individuals and as a couple. Maybe if the book focused on that more then I would have enjoyed it to a greater extent.
