After leaving her life in Arizona to be closer to her sick mother, Seraphina moves in with her brother and his two roommates. Coincidentally, one of the roommates is the mysterious stranger she hooked up with 3 months earlier.
Their chemistry was fantastic! While I wasn’t a fan of the nickname “Hades,” Tyler’s nickname for Sera, “Tink,” was adorable. Tyler gives off tattooed, grumpy, bad boy vibes, but his interactions with Sera show a whole other side of him. Seraphina is described as being a “sunshine party girl” which felt to me like more of a surface description. She has so much going on underneath her mask of sunshine which I quite liked as it made her feel more human and relatable.
My biggest annoyance in this book was Abby. What a crappy friend! Doesn’t listen, doesn’t take into account her friend’s feelings, unconcerned when her friend disappears at a party, doesn’t bat an eye at the weird/concerning feelings her (much) older brother has towards her friend. I could go on and on. I am very happy that Sera realized this and refused to continue dealing with that treatment.
I really liked the ADHD rep in the book. My younger siblings have been diagnosed with ADHD and I found that many of Sera’s struggles relate very well to theirs’. Some of the small things, like leaving the cupboard doors open, made me laugh because we are always teasing them about that.
The fact that Seraphina was dealing with her fear and anxiety over the genetic testing by herself was heartbreaking. The anticipation it caused me, as a reader, waiting to find out her test results was done very well. The nerves that caused her to put off the test were very relatable to me. I can understand the anxiety and fear that something like that can induce and I think the author portrayed it very well. She showed us how anxiety can slowly overtake your life until it all ends up bubbling over. I loved that she finally felt secure enough to tell Tyler about it and that he was so willing to go with her to the appointment. That kind of support is instrumental in dealing with scenarios such as this one.
My favourite part of the book was probably the audiobook. IYKYK.

Tink and Hades are the best. i LOVE them together so much that this is my #2 book I read whenever i need something happy.
5 freaking stars because Avery has done it again! I honestly didn't expect anything less than perfection from Ty and Sera's book and I thoroughly enjoyed every single second of reading it. The gradual progression of their relationship as well as so many of the heartfelt moments throughout the book had me swooning. The chemistry and smut was fantastic, per usual and I absolutely adored those little moments that we got to see of ChaseBailey and DallasShiv as well. I'm really looking forward to reading the next books in this series - particularly a *ahem* certain scorned hockey player and a sweet, averse to dating someone ifykyk
it's so cheesy idk why I love it so much but I can't help it.
I've loved Avery's writing since she first wrote Offside and released it onto Wattpad, which is to say a really long time, but I put off reading Shutout for as long as I could before I finally decided to read it. I was terrified that I would be disappointed by Tyler and Seraphina's relationship after it followed Bailey and Chase in Offside.
Instead, I was shocked to find a story that I adored as much as I did Offside, with two main characters who I found to be entertaining to read from - especially when Tyler was so obviously crushing on Sera and refusing to acknowledge it - and completely separate from the original couple.
At first, I was a little disappointed about Chase and Bailey not having as many cameos as I had hoped, but I honestly think that might be the reason I wound up enjoying this book as much as I did.
Sera was also a pretty typical "girly girl", which I absolutely adored. As someone who sometimes loves to go out and party with my friends and also adores all things pink and feminine, it was wonderful to have an FMC who represented that well without being degrading and condescending to the more "tomboyish" girls.
Tyler himself was absolutely adorable. He constantly gave Sera his full attention when they were together, and he was so gone for Sera that even Chase - ever the stubborn, overprotective man he is - couldn't really be mad at him about it when he realized it. The one major time he did screw up, his turnaround time for apologizing and being there for Sera was almost instantaneous.
10/10 would recommend to anyone wanting a good hockey romance to read. My only complaint is that Sera didn't have too many (good) friends outside of Tyler and Chase's crew, so I wish she'd had better relationships with the people around her and more friendships like the one she had with the girl from class (whose name is simply gone from my mind at this point).

A fun read while mostly traveling today. I ended up speeding through it without even realizing.
I’ve gotta say…I think Avery Keelan is one of my new favorite authors. Her writing style and character were so easy to fall in love with.
The sister of the MMC from Offside is the FMC this time and she’s put in quite the situation when her masked hookup from club XS turns out to be her brother’s teammate and roommate…and now her roommate.
The tension is INSTANT, the spice is SPICY, and the overall story was so fun.
Some spoilers:
Tyler was swoon-worthy. I didn’t think anyone could beat Chase from Offside, but maaaaaaan is Tyler a sweetie who loves the people he cares for.
10/10, devoured. Avery Keelan ATE with this book and I will be immediately adding all her other hockey romance titles to my TBR

I fell head over heels over Tyler and seraphina their nicknames tink and hades but the storyline of health issues and mental health was very informative and it brought the flood of tears out the epilogue was done so beautiful and I love the support Tyler and seraphina had for each other the spice was very nice
