✨ brother’s teammate
✨ forced proximity - roommates
✨ ADHD rep
✨ college hockey romance

After a one night stand with a masked stranger a couple months prior Seraphina is forced to move in with her brother and his roommates her sophomore year and she is more than surprised when her tattooed stranger ends up being there and is her brothers teammate Tyler. Knowing he has to stay away from Seraphina it becomes harder to do the closer they get while Sera struggles with her ADHD and what to do next for school and Tyler with burning himself out between hockey and school. They start to rely on each other until they can no longer stay away.

I absolutely devoured offside so I couldn’t wait for the next book in this world and this one did not disappoint. I love the idea of them knowing each other prior but not truly knowing each other. It added extra tension and pining between the two that had me dying for when they finally gave in again. I love the nicknames they gave each other, I’m a sucker for a really good nickname.

I love experiences Seraphina and her internal struggles. Her struggles with discovering who she is now and who her real friends are. Her ADHD was a big part of this and I love the representation of someone maybe not having their whole future figured out. And Tyler and his struggles were done so well.

We get a “he takes care of her scene” a one bed scene. The forced proximity in this is just perfection. I really enjoyed all aspects of this story. The friendship that blossoms between these two and then when the tension finally snaps we get to see the forbidden ness between them while they try to hide it from Sera’s brother Chase.

Im definitely a huge fan of this authors work and I think her hockey romances may just be some of my favorite! This is the perfect college hockey romance to add to your TBR! Who would want to read about a tattooed and grumpy hockey player who buys her a pink coffee maker so she has her coffee every morning and appreciates her love of pink!

Read

Maybe all you need to know is that as soon as I finished this on kindle, I bought the special edition paperback…I needed it on my shelf, and I needed the bonus chapters.

Shutout was both smutty and delicious while also covering some deeper topics like mental health, cancer, and neurodivergence. I loved the ADHD representation in this (and her amazing interview shut down in the bonus chapters…EVERYONE IS NOT A LITTLE NEURODIVERGENT).

I really enjoyed the exploration of the different ways a family member's cancer affects people. It isn’t just about the chemo, the hair loss and the vomiting and the fear. Nowadays a lot of cancers we know are genetic and a diagnosis can have wide-reaching implications. She handled this difficult topic very well. I myself was BRCA tested when I was 18 and thankfully was negative.

Tyler is a swoon-worthy edition to the book boyfriends living in my brain. He loves Sera for everything including her quirks, and as a neurodivergent, I love reading about characters who love someone because of their differences and not in spite of it. Sera was funny, confident in herself and relatable to anyone who didn’t just wake up one day in their teens and know what they wanted out of life. To anyone who still doesn’t know. It’s okay to not have everything figured out by 25, or 35 or 45

I’ve literally been on an ice hockey kick lately with my reads. And this is another I’ve enjoyed. I like how they first met and what was thought to be one time turned out differently. And their nicknames were cute; Hades and Tink!

A bit boring and kind of missing conflict bigger than him sort of ignoring her for a week because he was preoccupied.

I started this book earlier this year in one of my worst depression reading slumps and could not get through it. I finally repacked it back up and it was an entirely different experience. I enjoyed their relationship and how supportive Tyler was with everything.
