I seem to be reading a lot of hockey romance at the moment, I’m not sure what’s going on. This one seemed to go from being super horny one moment to being sad and anxious about family health and family pressure.
Our FMC had a lot of things to work out, from the people she is friends with to what to do with her life and topped it all off with a bunch of health issues. I did think it started to drag a bit in the middle and it seemed like it was a lot longer than 330+ pages. Not enough that it would stop me reading other books in the series, but I wouldn’t go right into the next book.
I liked that there was acknowledgment of the very real statistics around men who leave when their wife/partner is diagnosed with a serious illness. This book has a lot of anxiety around the FMCs mother’s breast cancer treatment and BRCA gene discovery.
Genre: Romance
Format: Digital
POV: Dual
Tropes: Hockey, brothers teammate, forced proximity, roommate, secret hookups, pierced 🍆, semi-public places
Spice: 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️ /5
Age suggestion: 18+
Unfortunately, this fell flat for me. If another book is planned for this world, I don’t think I’d pick it up given the first one was nothing to write home for me personally either. I wasn’t really invested in the characters, the writing just wasn’t there for me, and I was quite bored throughout a lot of the book. I do appreciate the mental health rep, there were some cute scenes, and the spice was good, so I went with 2 stars ⭐️

I have to find a man as obsessed with me as Tyler was obsessed with Sera.
