No happy ending, which absolutely makes me sob. I really was hoping that this would be a cute rom-com and it just wasn’t. Everything feels unsettled and unfinished, which I’m sure the author intended. I would like to give this a four for the writing but the absolute stupidity of everyone involved in the weird love triangle made me mad. I wanted to feel for all of them. I wanted to forgive them and root for them. I know they’re teens, but they’re old enough to know better to 1) treat Molly like an object to compete for, and 2) for Molly to constantly have no respect for herself or the person she was dating at the time and never be able to say no, and 3) for Patrick and Gabe to willingly want to hurt and betray the other, all while allowing all of the blame on Molly. I get that she was in love with both of them, in different times and in different ways, but she literally had no impulse control whatsoever it was ridiculous. I just wish that there was some kind of resolution and that these characters didn’t get hurt so badly.

2.5 stars. Its was an interesting read but their age really showed in the writing.

Update
FUCK THIS BOOK 2

I've decided I don't like this author. Her heroines aren't strong women. They consistently make stupid decisions regarding boys and their lives revolve around the opposite sex.

To say I'm bummed after reading 99 Days is a massive understatement. I really liked Cotugno's debut novel [b:How to Love|17332564|How to Love|Katie Cotugno|https://d.gr-assets.com/books/1366904609s/17332564.jpg|24037773] and couldn't wait to see what she came out with next. Unfortunately, 99 Days just didn't work for me. Admittedly, I'm not a fan of love triangles - they rate right up there with instalove. However, sometimes love triangles aren't bad if handled in the right way. I was hopeful I'd be pleasantly surprised especially considering how much I liked Cotugno's first book, but alas that was not the case.

Molly is torn between two brothers - Gabe and Patrick. Patrick is her first love while Gabe is the guy she lost her virginity to. She escapes town her senior year of high school due to the flack she received from sleeping with Gabe, but returns the summer before college. Upon her return, Molly continues to get harassed for sleeping with Gabe. While Gabe basically gets off scot-free. Come to find out Molly and Patrick were broken up when she slept with Gabe. So she didn't even cheat on him yet is still labeled a slut. Meanwhile Gabe slept with his BROTHER'S ex-girlfriend and gets left alone. I liked that Cotugno attempted to shed light on the double standard here.

However, I did not like Molly at all. I was hoping for some growth on her part. Something like Molly finally standing up for herself and pointing out the ridiculousness behind the double standard. Instead what I got was an immature, selfish, stupid girl who made the same mistakes over and over. After a while, it was hard to feel bad for her. She definitely took the brunt of the ridicule which wasn't fair considering how both guys acted, but some of it was definitely deserved. The way she waffled back and forth between both guys was annoying. I honestly don't know what either guy saw in her.

If you like love triangles similar to Molly McAdams this might be the book for you. But if you hate love triangles (and annoying heroines) you may want to skip this one.

Oh Molly! I can't remember the last time I read a book and wanted to reach through the pages and shake the main character this badly. Girl needs a sassy gay best friend and STAT. Like, look at your life. Look at your choices. WHAT ARE YOU DOING!?!? Her indecisiveness and lack of a backbone made this book a tough sell for me.
That being said...it had a great Sarah Dessen vibe to it, and I found myself really liking the snappy writing.
