This book was terrible. I thought it was going to be like, Sarah Dessen levels of good, but nope, terrible.
Also, why didn't anyone in this book talk to each other? I still don't feel like Molly and her mom have moved on from the book and now Molly has basically lit a match to this town (and family) who she seemed so desperate to win back. WHO ARE THESE PEOPLE?
Spoiler
Cheating storylines are hard to do, but have been done where you don't hate the main character. This was not one of those. Like, our narrator goes through all this crap and when she comes back, she dives right back in? Like she's learned nothing? I don't buy those motives, so I didn't really buy the rest of the book. And when things blow up in her face AGAIN (which they shouldn't have because a lot more people were involved this time), she decides she is the victim? Why didn't she understand that when she came back in the first place, after she had a year to think about it? This isn't the time to trot that out. When you bring it out at that point, it looks more like a blame game. Also, why didn't anyone in this book talk to each other? Well written for sure. Hard to read at times but ended in a really satisfying and unexpected way.
This was a fun little drama. You almost had to hate every character or at least yell about them constantly. Molly screwed up. However her screw up was broadcasted to the entire world because her mom is B****. She took her vulnerable daughters story and turned it into a novel. Most people would try to move on from her past but Molly ran right back to it when she returned back to her hometown. This was a fun little YA. The ending I wasn't too happy about though.
she sucks…but for some reason it was still a 3 star.
I honestly adored this book. I found myself immediately engrossed as soon as I picked it up and endeared to these characters. Don’t get me wrong, they’re super frustrating and do dumb things 99% of the time, but it just captured the spirit of being young where everything is so damn crucial that it just worked for me. The ending is not sufficient at all for me, but thank god there’s a sequel. For my first Katie Cotugno I am not even a little disappointed!

This book was very bittersweet. I wish that all relationships were perfect by the time molly's 99 days had ended but that isn't at all realistic. Sometimes there are relationships that have been broken and can never quite heal the same. Some slowly heal over time and some can be super glued back together with forgiveness. I love how Katie made the book realistic. Not all things in life are dandy rainbows and sunshine. This book doesn't give you a completely lovable protagonist. She makes you mad at the decisions she makes throughout the book and you feel sorry for her about what she has to go through. This book is definitely about forgiveness. forgiving yourself and others. I loved this book though it made me super mad throughout the end of it. This book had amazing dialogue, characters, relationships, and details.

The main character was infuriating to read and the choices they made were awful.
I’m a big fan of epically poor decision-making, love triangles, and childhood friends to lovers, so this book was tailor-made for me. I flew through it and immediately ordered the sequel. I love the addressing of double standards when it comes to slut-shaming, I love how the ending doesn’t tie up neatly in a bow. I wish we’d gotten more resolution to the protagonist’s horrible mother storyline but that’s really the only complaint I have. 8/10⭐️
