What a fabulous read! I thoroughly enjoyed this - a great atmospheric Cornish setting (which automatically qualifies it for at least 3 stars!) plus lots of tension and suspense with some gothic drama thrown in too.
I loved all the characters and it's a story that will stay with me for a long time.
It's not perfect - the writing tries too hard at times with what feels like forced or overly dramatic similes but this still gets 5 stars nevertheless for being a unique and fabulous page-turner.

I really liked this first novel of the author, his pen is fluid and we are really embarking on this family story. I was happy to find the Cornish atmosphere that I love so much. We have a story well built, sad and full of love, lies. I was very touched by the character of Amber more than any other. A beautiful family fresco.
