This book was incredibly hard to read.  This is not a book to just pick up on a whim or go into blindly.  You need to be mentally prepared for the content of this novel.  The story triggered such deep rooted emotions in me.  Strong adamant emotions.  The author really got to the root of the characters, how frustrating these situations are, how  complex and complicated each situation is.  I think a lot of people will see themselves in this book.   It doesn’t just dive into the abuse and the relationship, but it starts the conversations for so much more than that.  

I will probably add more to this when I have had time to think on this novel.

How do you write a review on a book that is about a teacher that

grooms

at 15-year-old girl?

My Dark Vanessa is just that.  Told in the voice of Vanessa, past (her 15-year-old self), and present (30-year-old self). 

Is it an easy read?  No
Is it an important read? Yes

It's important in the sense of how easily grooming (ephebophilia*) can take place in teens. 

(*Ephebophilia is the primary sexual interest in mid-to-late adolescents, generally ages 15 to 19.)

Damn this was a tough book to read. I actually had to take a break and start a middle grade so I wouldn't go into a complete slump. I don't even know how to rate this. Well done I guess? I don't know man, my mind and soul is shot.
