I highly, HIGHLY encourage you to check out this beautifully illustrated, illuminatingly feminist, all around awesome graphic novel about women who made a difference (sometimes large sometimes small) in the world. I've read quite a few of these, compendiums, for lack of a better word and what I liked about this one is there were some very under the radar women I'd never heard of. Yes, there are your inclusions like Hedy Lammar (amazing, has a graphic novel bio of her own), Nellie Bly (what a legend), but also amazing women like Katia Krafft and Giorgina Reid who I had zero knowledge of.
Go read it. Go!
Go read it. Go!
This is one of the BEST things I’ve ever read.
So many inspiring women ALL over the world from present day to past; we even have a story on the first gynecologist back in Athens in Greece. I love how this graphic novel also includes multiple trans women and/or sapphic women and/or women with disabilities.
This was truly delightful and I’ve got to give credit to the art work and the authors humorous way of telling the stories. Pénélope Bagieu put in so much effort to bring each women’s story to life.
I adored this graphic anthology!!

This was just a wonderful collection of mini biographies in comic form. This book is just delightful, informative, interesting, funny, inspiring, and absolutely worth getting your hands on.
It's full of short biographical comics of 29 women both in history and present day who weren't satisfied to behave like others thought they should. Some of the women were familiar to me but most were not. All of the stories were fascinating and well portrayed by the author/artist.
I loved that it was such a variety of women from different time periods, cultures, and locations. Some of these women made their mark as young women and others much later in their lives. My favorite was about Cheryl Bridges who was a pioneering female runner. I loved how it casually mentioned her daughter Shalane without even mentioning Shalane's last name (Flanagan as in Olympic medalist and NYC Marathon winner).
The artwork is wonderful and I loved that the author included her own biography at the end.

What a way to start my 2022 reading year. I absolutely loved this book, I loved learning about all the kickass women, I loved the art and I just the reading experience. Everyone needs to read this book!
It's a very easy book to read and comprehend. The art style is beautiful and the pictures show the story clearly. I was shocked by how many of these women I had no idea existed and so glad that I have been enlightened and can delve deeper into these women's lives. Some of my favourites were: Delia Akeley (The explorer), Giorgina Reid (Lighthouse keeper), Sonita Alizadeh (The rapper), Frances Glesser Lee (Crime miniaturist) and Mae Jemison (Astronaut).
I have so much love for this book and I will definitely be picking it up again in the future and recommending it to everyone I know.

She thinks to herself that, strangely enough, she always knew she would end up there at some point.
Inspirational, bold, brave, and BRAZEN are all the women profiled in this entertaining and engrossing graphic novel. After each story, all of which were interesting, I found myself going online to research the woman I just read about in order to discover more about her. You may not agree with all the choices the women make in this book (I didn't), but there's no doubt that they are BRAZEN and have challenged the status quo in their country and around the world for women. Even if you are not a graphic novel fan, I highly recommend this book!
One of my students recommended this book to me and it was very inspiring. The illustrations that go with the story are very colorful and definitely depict the sentiment of each rebel lady. It provides you with a very good summary of the life of different women that really made their own way through history not necessarily changing it, but more like making their own choices and their own decisions and how this decisions helped shaped something in the society that surrounded them. If you are a teacher is a great collection that could certainly allow you to push your students to conduct more research on each person and create a very nice project.
