I can't really give this book more than three stars.

SpoilerI find the themes really disturbing for kids: poaching is good, stepping onto other people's property without permission is good, stealing is good...

If this was an elaborate plot to FREE the pheasants from getting shot the next day then I could vouch for this book, but no, they got stolen to supposedly get eaten anyway later on.

I do like that in the end the birds took revenge on all of them and set themselves free.

This is truly one my favourite books. I read it for the first time when I was about 10 years old, and several times after that during my childhood.

I'm a Roald Dahl fan in general, but something about this story really touches me. The relationship between the father and son is so beautifully portrayed.

I want go into the details of the story here; but if you haven't already, read this book! You won't regret it (also would be great to read to a child).

My (second) favorite book from my childhood. My car is named after Danny! By favorite book from Roald Dahl.

I liked it. It was a classic Dahl book. I still like the childish books. And the illustrations by Quentin Blake really adds to it. On the whole, I liked it.

Super cute! I'd never read this Roald Dahl book before. A lot like a real-life Fantastic Mr. Fox. Felt a bit memoir-ish.
