3.5* must read if you’re a fan of Lisbeth and Blomquist.
much simpler writing than larsson, but had the same effect and characters. i feel like the author let lisbeth open up more which isn’t really believable to me, but i really enjoyed it otherwise.
This is obviously not written by the original author, and it puts a stain on the rest of the series. However, the book as a stand alone is okay.
Yes! Lisbeth is awesome again. Was skeptical to read a different author taking up the reins of a great story line. But he did well.
I was nervous about reading this one. As a huge fan of Stieg Larsson and his Millennium series, I was very concerned that another writer trying to pick up where the master left off could never measure up. And to some extent, I was right. David Lagercrantz is not Stieg Larsson. That said, he is a terrific writer, and did his best to stay true to the characters Larsson created so wholly. Some of the differences are very subtle; I sensed a slight shift in Blomquist's relationships with the women in his life, for example. I also found it a bit tedious in spots where Lagercrantz described the same scene from multiple perspectives. But overall, this is an A for effort, and a thrilling read. I look forward to more.
So...this was a good book. I know some people are slamming it because it wasn't written by Stieg Larsson, but really, get over it people! I enjoyed the characters (all your favorites are back and then some) and the plot was decent. It filled some downtime and was enjoyable. What more could you ask for? Good vacation read. Perfect for long plane ride.
I knew(!) it would not be as good as the originals, but I had to read it anyways.
