Although this series is always entitled "The Girl..." I have always been as interested in the journalist character, Mikael. In that respect, this book did not disappoint - the continuation of his story from the original Millennium trilogy was very enjoyable and flowed on in a very natural way. I was a little more disappointed with the characterisation of Lisbet Salander (the eponymous "Girl...") who didn't feel like quite the same character that I remember. That may just be me, it is a while since I have read the books!
But I had heard complaints that Lisbet was not in the book enough, and I think that is an unfair criticism. Indeed her presence seemed to permeate the book, even when she wasn't actively present in scenes, and notwithstanding my minor reservations above I would certainly like to read the next in the series, and would recommend it to anyone who enjoys a good, undemanding and engaging thriller.

I really enjoyed this book! I wasn't sure at first about another Millenium book by a new author, but he managed to keep the key players in the story and the writing style was similar enough that I couldn't even tell it was a different author.

It was with a lot of mixed feelings that I finally dove into this book. Like many who have reviewed it, I loved the Millennium trilogy and had misgivings because of the drama surrounding David Lagercrantz and Stieg Larsson's wife. But enough about that and onto the book.

First of all, it was great to see all the characters again. They are mostly represented just as you would expect them from the original trilogy so if you loved the characters, that is something to look forward to. The story itself it something you'd expect from a Millennium (whether this was in notes/manuscripts or original to Lagercrantz, I do not know) although I felt that some parts were not quite what I would have imagined for a Larsson book. But that was the point, it's a Millennium book, not a Larsson book.

Essentially, if you are not averse to reading this book for personal reasons, try reading it with a more open mind than I did. It was not made to be a carbon copy of Larsson's style and abilities. It was made to continue to adventures of the characters.

I plan to continue on to the next book. Hopefully I will experience it differently this time around.

I really like this.

Wow - I can't believe Stieg Larssen didn't write this himself, it flowed so seamlessly from the previous trilogy. Slightly less useless description if anything (maybe the Swedish translation made it too flowery before) - now I can't wait for the next book.
Lisbeth & Mikail are back better than ever along with a host of old & new characters and a plot that sucks you in until the end. Enjoy!

Whilst there were some good parts of this book, I still overwhelmingly dislike large parts of it. Whilst I did feel the characters were entirely off the mark, it was well written and at times engaging (hence why I finished it rather than quit midway through - although I did consider it. But I think the biggest problem was the storyline. I felt it implausible. Larson's plots could be considered implausible, but the issue with this book is that its laughable and not in a good way.

Zaczyna się wolno i ciężko przebrnąć przez kilka pierwszych stron, ale kiedy akcja zaczyna nabierać tempa, trudno oderwać się od tej książki.

I've picked this up 2-3 times, and read 1/3 of this way-too-long-book before I realized that I hated it and then forgot it, and then picked it up again and did the same thing. This is not as good as the original "Girl With the ..." series (which I loved) and goes way too long without anything interesting happening. Reading it was like a form of punishment and a waste of my time.

No es mala pero está muy lejos del nivel de la serie original. El autor crea muchos personajes, los caracteriza muy bien, pero al final solo se centra en Lisbeth Salander. Parece que el libro solo se tratara de ella.

In Lagercrantz's defense it can't be easy to take someone else's work and do a good job of it. But this was so unbearably boring, and it really did not seem like the author knew how to write a thriller. If you are going to give us every detail at face value, there's no suspense, and thus you have completely eliminated my ability to engage in this kind of plot. Disappointed that two more of these have been contracted.
