A really nice read featuring a cute LGBTQ relationship. It’s a nice look into a reality that I would definitely love to be apart of; a world where a woman became president with an America that doesn’t let hate control it. My only issue, and it’s small mind you, is that I wish the big political struggle that really takes forefront in the third act of the book, showed up a little earlier. I was so invested in the relationship and the unfortunate implications of being LGBTQ in America and the UK that I forgot about the major plot point of the presidential campaign.

IDK MAN i just had a good fucking time reading this book. it’s fun, it’s lighthearted, its romantic, and though very idealistic, it exists in a world that is full of hope, which i think is important.

I loved it. The characters were smart and snarky and flawed and endearing and I found myself wholly swept up in their lives. Also, finishing a story that featured a female president's re-election campaign just days before a national election was especially poignant. I wish we could live in the reality of this book instead of our own.

(Notes on re-read at the end)

Original review: This turned out to be exactly the book I needed to read this week— fast-paced and funny without being fluffy, heartfelt and endearing without being sappy. It has been so thoroughly hyped that I can’t imagine anyone needs a plot summary. It is truly that rare book you think can’t possibly be as good as everyone says it is, and then it is. Four and a half stars rounded up to five.

Re-read- halfway through re-reading RWRB (as it has come to be known among its die-hard fans), I couldn’t remember why I loved it so much the first time. It was fun, but it wasn’t that great. But then I got to the part where everything falls apart (so that it can then be fixed, as happens in all the best romcoms), and from there to the end, it’s just an explosion of hope and human decency. Once again, it was exactly the book I needed to read right now.
