This is one of my favorite books ever! Even in Manga form I enjoyed it so much.
I struggled through the actual book, and I saw this in the library and thought I would give it a try, and I loved it. Read the whole thing in 3 hours. I loved the story and the artwork and now I want to go back and finish the actual book.
There was repeat misuse of titles for the gentlemen that I found irritating, and Lizzy was overly dramatized (which I understand is the media of Manga, but it doesn't fit the telling of P&P). Additionally Mr. Collins was drawn in a style altogether different than the other characters (and I understand that Mr. Collins is very silly and this was a way of expressing that but I felt it irritating). Overall I wasn't enjoying the Manga retelling so I DNF.

I am not especially enamored of manga art work. The young girls are a bit TOO pretty and elaborately styled and the older people are a bit too excessively drawn for me. But this book, although it has all of the problems that manga has IME, still managed to appeal to me. In particular, I thought the artist did an exceptional job with the enigmatic Mr. Darcy. Less appealing - and purposely so, I suppose, were Mrs. Bennett and Mr. Collins, the latter being almost too clownish for the otherwise well-drawn characters. And, to credit the author, she does tell the original story, without digressions. Some details are obviously missing, but the story follows Austen's very well and, in a few instances, even manages to convey some of the emotions of the original story spot on. Elizabeth's indecision and change of heart was especially appealing. If you like manga, try this one. Interesting.
A beautiful adaptation of the classic we all know and love.
It is not a faithful adaptation, but a retelling in comic that gives it a humorous spin and will make you yearn to read the book or watch your favorite adaptation.
I really loved the art, I didn't expect them to be so manga-like, but it delivered.
The writing did felt weak at times, but I was enthralled enough to ignore it.
Really recommend it for all of those Austen fans that can get enough of the Jane Austen classic.
I received a copy from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

This is my first-ever Austen. It was pretty good, but the occasional inclusion of super-manga drawings (where the characters change from regular-sized humans into tiny 8-bit video game people) were distracting and weird.

I've been reading (and enjoying) some of the other Manga Classics like Les Misérables and The Scarlet Letter. So, even though I never really liked Pride and Prejudice I was very curious to this manga adaptation.
But it failed to capture my heart. It's been some years since I read P&P, and I don't have too happy memories of it. (I needed to read it for school, in a short period with loads of other stuff), So, I'm not planning on a reread soon. However, I didn't like this adaptation as much as I did the others. The style seemed a bit too much sometimes, as if the subtlety of the book was missing.
This doesn't mean I don't think that it is a good way of introducing people to literary classics. On the contrary! It's just that I preferred the others I've read so far, which may or may not be because I don't particularly like the story of P&P.
Thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for providing me with a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review!
