I had never read Pride and Prejudice because I wanted to—I listened to the audiobook about four years ago for school, plus I’ve never seen one of the movie adaptions, so I was quite surprised how much of the story I remembered and how much I enjoyed having my memory refreshed with this much easier to read version of the classic. Apparently I actually listened to the book.
The more cartoon-y panels at the end of the chapters were occasionally confusing or out of place, though after time some of them seemed to be to add well loved quotes to the book without having to have the scenes in the book itself—but again, I haven’t really read the book so I couldn’t say.
A couple of times the expression on a character’s face was absolutely perfect, one of my favorites is a panel toward the beginning displaying how Mrs. Bennet felt about having a new (rich) gentleman neighbor. I must have blocked out the absurdity of Mrs. Bennet’s obsession with rich suitors, because she was utterly ridiculous, but it got to the point that it was funny rather than annoying.
I know the art in the ARC I read isn’t final, and though certain sections of it were fuzzy, the main art was crisp and I can’t imagine how beautiful the finished/printed version is. And I will most definitely be beginning a Manga Classics collection for my physical bookshelf.
*I received a review copy from the publisher via NetGalley, all opinions my own

I love Pride and Prejudice I mean LOVE. It has to be one of my favourite classics ever. So when I saw it was a manga I had to have it. But man I was disappointed. I know it some one else's interpretation but come on the characters didn't even have the right mannerisms. They didn't even sound like they were in the right era. The girls sounded like they came right out of twenty first century. And they made Kitty and Lydia sound like two high school teenagers following every jock or in this case foot soldiers. There is no way in hell they would have acted like this or been allowed to by there father. And the dialogue between Elizabeth and Darcy about there love for each other was so over the top.
The good thing about this book is that they did get the ridiculous that is of Mr. Collins down to a tee.
And the art work was very beautifully done. They just need to work on the dialogue a bit more. The movie was a better interpretation.
I really enjoyed this!! A lot of the story and characterizations did get lost due to the format, so I think it would be difficult to follow without familiarity with the story.
Pretty enjoyable, but I think I would have liked it better if I hadn't loved the original sooo much. The art is really pretty and there's this particular scene that makes me laugh whenever I flip to it (Darcy's face in the last box on p. 112... I just flipped to it right now and it's so funny).
I didn't like that a lot of things were skipped or changed in order to make things easier to understand or adapt... like I know it's not supposed to be exact, I'm just nitpicking.
I'd definitely read another Manga Classic.

What a great adaptation to such a wonderful book. Sadly I haven't had the chance to actually read the original story by Jane Austen but I've seen so many movie/TV versions that I feel like I know it by heart.
For people who have never read Manga before it does a great job of showing you how to read it and follow along. In Japan where manga originates from they read right to left and so yes this is different it wasn't all that bad. I've read manga before so it wasn't a hassle but Udon Entertainment does a good job for newbies. My only issue was that I had to read it through Adobe Digital and i had to go backwards which was a pain but if you have the book in hand its so easy.
The illustrations are what manga is all about and this does not disappoint. Darcy is charming and oh so sexy. Elizabeth and Jane are drawn so well and are so beautiful. Large eyes is a thing with mangas and their eyes don't disappoint. LOL
The manga follows the story pretty well and of course it shortens it but the themes are still there and everything that basically happens. It's a great story and adaptation. I highly suggest reading this if you want a different take on Pride and Prejudice!

Great art and great story come together in this manga adaptation of the classic Pride and Prejudice. All of the best elements of the original story are there. I love the way the drawings breathe life into the characters.
I loved reading my favorite classic in a bit of a new way. I was reminded why I love Lizzie and Darcy's relationship. I loved how they further explored Lydia's plotline and made me notice it a bit closer.
Final Thoughts: I LOVED IT! :)

This was great! You wouldn't think that Pride & Prejudice lends itself to being adapted into a manga but it totally works! It took me a few pages to warm up to how a few of the characters were drawn but overall the illustrations are gorgeous! I loved it and will be buying a copy for my manga collection when it comes out in August.

It is a truth universally acknowledged, that a single man in possession of a good fortune must be in want of a wife
I really enjoyed this! The artwork was great and main plot of the story was portrayed well. This manga classics idea is great for those who just can't stand to read, what can be tedious, classics. If you're a fan of P&P you will either really love this or probably hate it; I loved it. Some of the reactions from the characters were over dramatic but that's manga for you..
I adored the scenes with Darcy and Elizabeth as well as the scenes with Jane and Bingley. The translation of the feel of the book to manga was done well. You still feel the same sentiment about the characters from book/tv/movie to manga. I was impressed that that all of the plot points were kept in here unlike in the 2005 movie version.
I didn't like that Mr. Collins looked cartoon-y compared to the rest of the characters. I didn't really care one way or the other for the dialogue addition. I would have really loved some color in art but it was still great.
Once again this is either a hit for those who are lovers of Pride and Prejudice. But for those who are hesitant to pick up classics it is a great read.
