Hollywood actor meets small-town garage receptionist
Okay, so first off, I usually stay away from small-town romances but I know the author would make it good so I got this one. I was not disappointed.
I didn't expect the story to take a dark turn at some point near the end but I still enjoyed it overall. I think the best part or the aspect that I loved most about this was Presley's found family in Clifton Forge. I loved that for her.
I liked that Shaw was pretty hooked on Presley since the first time he saw her and that he was persistent in winning her over.
I didn't have a good impression of Scarlett from this book - she was awful to Presley and I feel like she didn't deserve Presley's devotion. I don't really care to read her book.

Stone Princess is Presley and Shaw's story. We know Presley from the previous books as the pseudo-sister to the guys. She's humiliated after having to call off her wedding and is back at the garage. Shaw Valance is one of Hollywood's most popular actors and he is set the star in the upcoming film revolving around the Clifton Forge murder. Obviously everyone is town is super against the film and at the top of that list is Presley. So when Shaw shows up at the garage, she's got her claws out.
I listened to this on audio and it was narrated by the dream team aka Teddy Hamilton and Ava Erickson, and god I love them together. Shaw was such a cool dude. It didn't seem like it to the town, but he really was so passionate about this film. He was so adamant about the story being as close to the truth as possible. I was really excited to finally get to read Presley's story. I loved how she wasn't pining over her loser ex and wasn't entertaining him at all. Anytime he came crawling around she shut him DOWN and we love that. Her and Shaw could not be more different so it fun to see them together as a couple. I was definitely getting sunshine hero/grumpy girl vibes and we never get enough of those so it was fun to read. This was another great read in the Clifton Forge series!

What a fantastic story! Devney Perry doesn’t just give you a wonderful story, but she weaves a line between friends and lovers and feelings and brings you into this world where you fall in love with her characters and get invested in their happiness, sad for their problems and tense about the dangers involved.
Presley Marks, who is such a spitfire and a central person in the books up to now, gets her story in this issue. She’s tiny, but she’s ferocious. When Shaw Valance, prime Hollywood star and prime bod, arrives in town to film the story about Genevieve’s mother’s murder, the clan at the Clifton Forge Garage are upset. They don’t want to reminisce about this sad chapter in their lives and they don’t want Genevieve to be upset. They’re afraid how the story will be presented to the world. So when he arrives at the garage to give his respects and only finds Presley, his reception is arctic to say the least. He’s entertained because usually women gush and fall at his feet. But this tiny spitfire looks at him like he’s dirt under her shoe. Intrigued, he wants to come back for more.
What I found fascinating is that Shaw is not very different from Dash Slater. They are both very decisive men, alphas, protective and possessive. They are also men who nurture and encourage their woman to do their thing, and will strive to get them whatever makes them happy. I also noticed that although our friends are not happy about Shaw’s movie, he did gain their acceptance. He’s a straightforward guy, none of the Hollywood gigantic egocentric style. Maybe his four sisters are responsible for keeping him real!
The banter and the slow burn between Presley and Shaw is delicious and enthralling. Presley answers more with a NO that with a yes and that’s what keeps Shaw coming back for more. They are delightful! Also the angsty part of the story is very riveting. Presley is recovering from being abandoned at the altar by scumbag Jeremy and it all brings back reminders from the childhood she ran away from.
Little by little the story is revealed and we the readers are spell bound, passing pages and gasping to find out more. I loved seeing how all the guys from the garage gather around Presley like big brothers, to give her support in whatever she needs. She has a great relation with them and it felt more real to me than her friendship with Bryce and Genevieve. This is the book where I felt the strongest sense of family with this group. Some are family, siblings or married, but there’s a cohesiveness about the whole bunch that I felt most strongly in this book, and this time it includes Shaw.
I have book hangover! There are so many details and nuances in this book that make it my favorite in this series. There’s just not the central plot about Shaw and Presley but the other little pieces of their individual histories that mesh with the central theme and give it more meaning. Also, the other affairs of the Tin Gypsy that affect Presley. It’s a magnificent system of balances and twists that make up to one fantastic, very well developed and entertaining story. Love!
