They found this in HM's papers and I don't think it was published until the 20th century. I can't really recommend it, but you should see what Benjamin Britten and EM Forster did with it (get the new Blu-Ray DVD with Jacques Imbrailo and John Mark Ainsley) you will shit yourself.

Herman Melville is (was) full of himself.

Ehh... not terrible. Cliff’s Notes helped out a ton with following the storyline at the beginning, so my “with-Cliff’s-Notes” rating would be closer to 3 stars. As an intellectual, mustache-twirling type, I analyzed the text and found that, when you boil out the dross and glean the gold, the essence of the story, the moral is: DON’T HIT PEOPLE.

if i had actually read the book instead of skimming it, maybe i would have known what was going on

Schrijft mooi Engels, maar wordt soms te complex voor het simpele verhaal dat Melville wil brengen. Andere werken hebben dit minder. Billy Bud is een onafgewerkt manuscript en dat merk je aan taal en verhaal.
