I was thinking that high school romances don’t do this for me anymore, but that one was so special
I love Maggie, my heart is broken for her story
West was a big jerk at the beginning, but I loved how Maggie changed him
every minute of the book was so good

abbi glines hits another one out of the park with this incredible story . she is an amazing author who sucks you into her stories and she makes it very hard not to fall in love with her characters. full review to come

Looooved this, thought it was super cute. I definitely cried.

Was this the best book I’ve ever read? No. Was it incredibly cheesy with a lot of problematic stereotypes? Yes. Will I now be reading every book in this series? Also yes. I don’t want to talk about it.

A beautiful story between two hurt people; a mute and a football player. I liked the storyline and how it brought two people who needed each other together. At parts it got deep, but overall was a good read. Spice factor: mainly non-existent lol

I feel like this book is a poor mashup of The Sea of Tranquility, Second Chance Summer, and the drama level of Paper Princess. I can't say that it was particularly well executed either, because I understand that the author wanted to evoke an emotional response from the audience with the character's back story; but it felt like she was forcing the audience to feel a certain way instead of setting up the situation and letting us feel what we should. The characters were okay, but did not really go beyond their situations and the plot was extremely weak. Instead of reading this book, maybe try one of the ones I mentioned above if you're looking for a good story about dealing with loss and tragedy, watching a loved one die and learning how to cherish each moment, or lots of high school drama, respectively.

Just a side note, I think that this book falls in that odd gray area between New Adult and Young Adult, because at times it mentions sex quite explicitly but when it comes to the actual act itself, it glosses over it quite thoroughly. Keep that in mind if you're interested in this book.

Looved it! Op sommige stukken vond ik hem alleen gewoon nét te snel gaan en wilde ik meer details dus daarom 4 sterren.

“I had always been told my future was on the field and I could be somebody great. And I had wanted that. Until I found somebody who needed me. And I realized the only person I wanted to be great for was her.”

god this was so painful. felt like the most stereotypical southern teen romance

it felt like this book was trying to be the teen version of archer's voice but it will neverrrr compare. however, it makes up for the fact that the characters are so UNIQUE. WE GOT A STAR FOOTBALL PLAYER AND A FORMER POPULAR CHEERLEADERRRR.

can i also just add that the title of this book has nothing to do with the actual plot?? i cant remember any part where they mention "until friday night." is it when the football players go to their parties?? genuinely confused

ok here are the mcs:
maggie: dad killed mom, hasnt spoken in 2 years, moved in with cousin's family, former popular girl but they barely touch on her past that its really hard to connect with her background
west: star football player, doesn't do relationships bc ofc he just needs the distraction from his dying dad!!!

im sorry i have nothing against southern people but everyone's names are just bleh. maggie, west, coralee, gunner..? cant forget that there are also some racist bitches and out of all the people mentioned in the book, only one character is a POC. i just hated how the author described him too. something like "he wasnt dark or light, just the perfect bronze" or some shit. either way, EW.

the plot is basically west not telling anyone about his dying dad so he's suffering and he meets maggie who hasn't spoken in two years and speaks to him. they bond over losing their parents. their friendship turns into more but west becomes superrrr dependent on maggie. ICK. MAGGIE LITERALLY BECOMES LIKE A CARETAKER OF A TEENAGER. i mean she used him too but i think west was def more needy.

this relationship was completely toxic and unhealthy and made me cringe so often. but i dont hate it because of the toxicity, enemies to lovers is so toxic but i love it (in fantasy). but THE CODEPENDENCY AND WHOLE "I CANT FUNCTION WITHOUT YOU" OR "THE ONLY PERSON THAT CAN HELP ME IS MAGGIEEEEEE" IS JUST SO ANNOYING AND FRUSTRATING.

i had a small bit of hope for this book because they addressed the codependency and the mcs realized they should split for a while. YOU KNOW WHAT THEY DID? THEY SPENT ONE DAY APART AND THEN GOT BACK TOGETHER.

all i remember happening after this is they get back together and they went to a party? i don't remember but i think the ending was the mcs realized they knew each other when they were kids and some kind of small bonding moment when they were younger idk.

oh also this was a tiktok rec

Don’t really know what to think about this book. The story was good but there didn’t really happen much for me. I didn’t really connect with the characters, so I probably won’t be reading the other parts.
