Un Mar Sin Estrellas by Erin Morgenstern

This book was a whole bunch of disconnected partially completed stories. I was hoping everything would come together in a compelling way, but at 74% the existing stories have not been linked, and new stories keep being introduced that are not cohesive with the world building up to that point. Introducing time travel and reincarnation in the second half of a book with little to no explanation exceeds my ability to suspend disbelief. While I did enjoy the smaller sub stories, I find myself annoyed they they are left incomplete in favor of endless pages of Zachary bumbling around an over-hyped underground library. And don't even get me started on the so called LGBT "romance" between two characters who couldn't possibly have any less chemistry.

The Night Circus is one of my absolute favorite books, so I’ve held off on reading this for the love of anticipation. Unfortunately the story-within-a-story and slowwwww moving plot didn’t quite match up to my hopes. The vibes were amazing, so vividly written and beautiful. But ultimately I got lost in the sauce too often, things were wrapped up by the end but I just didn’t love it as much. Wish the plot line was more coherent.

I don't think I've ever read anything more magical in my life. I adored The Night Circus but this just whisked my story-loving heart away! I have just finished it and I miss the characters already. The Starless Sea will live in my heart forever.

Morgenstern does it again. (One of the few books I preordered so I could (re)read at relaxed pace.)
Just wondering how long it will take Hollywood to snap up this beauty.
