This started out as a really interesting read. However, the further I got into it, the less I liked it. None of the characters were very likeable which in some books it doesn't matter. The problem for me was that toward the end the actions they took didn't seem very plausible.
Eh... It was not bad, but it was not that good.
I don't get what the hype is about at all... the ending was not surprising and the characters were a bit cold (am I the only one who prefers YA characters over the ones in adult books? Seems like the characters in adult novels are always cold and dull and we never really get to know them).
Nothing new or special to this story. How is this Goodreads' 2015 book of the year??? ugh.
The writing was alright, but it took me a while to finish the book. I don't know, maybe I waited too long to read this and had high expectations. It was just Rachel wandering back and forth between houses and getting drunk and calling people and crying. It felt like I never really had doubts about who the killer was, like in other novels where suspects keep changing throughout the story. I didn't really care about who did it, because I wasn't expecting a shocker, since there were only about 6 characters in the whole story. I mean, obviously (SPOILERS) it's not going to be the main character, the husband or the first lover, that would be too easy. Who's left? Anna or Tom, and you know it's going to be about an affair.
Honestly, it was pretty boring.

enjoyed that the characters were unlikable, but thought at times that the three voices meshed into one. I can see why it is such a popular book, the beginning and ending were exciting but the middle of the book was hard to get through - some of it could have been cut down

Meh. Fine read. Didn’t really get “thriller” - not tense, guessed the twist early on. Kept me turning pages though. Liked the characters well enough.
Read as audiobook. The Brits made this enjoyable. It was good, I really enjoyed it, but I listened to it in a day. Took some twists I wasn’t expecting but ended how I expected
For the most part I was bored with it, BUT the plot is good and unpredictable, and the plot twist did have me going "Oh my god" in public. 4 stars :-)
