I love enemies to lovers, and i greatly enjoyed this one. My only complaint is it was a little long.

A fun start to a contemporary series about a group of buddies (+1 sister/friend) who, I'm presuming, each get their own happily ever after in their own book. The inaugural volume tells the story of Jase, whose wary about commitment after having his mom leave his dad when he was a kid, and watching his best friend's girlfriend cheat on him and dump him. Unfortunately, said best friend's girlfriend, Emily is now friends with all the women his friends are marrying, and because they are both super tall (she's 5' 11"; he's 6' 4"), they continually get paired up in the bridal parties. Kelly's strength is capturing the snipping and snarking of these two enemies as they go at each other while trying not to ruin the wedding days of their friends (or give in to their own physical attraction to one another). Sex of course ensues, but the book takes an interesting turn when issues about commitment come to the fore. And since both have issues in this regard, the seesawing back and forth in their relationship makes a lot of sense.

A first read of this author for me, but I'll likely be searching out her other titles, and looking forward to the next books in the series.

This one is verging on 4.5 for me.

I really liked the fact that everything kind of starts out revolving around this group of friends and acquaintances and weddings. And of course proving that the world really is a small place, it seems like Jase Foster and Emily Klein are fated to be paired up at all of their mutual friends' and / or acquaintances' weddings. This wouldn't be such a bad thing if Jase and Emily didn't have a past that involves them not being able to stand one another because, admittedly, both Jase and Emily find the other one attractive. And constantly being thrown together at weddings does nothing to keep them out of each others' minds.

I liked this kind of frenemies to lovers story. The past issues between Emily and Jase are hinted at quite a bit before everything is finally out in the open, but once the past between them is more or less settled, it kind of takes a back seat to deeper personal issues - mainly on Jase's part. I kind of feel like maybe the conflict should have focused on one or the other. I felt like once the past between Jase and Emily is talked about, it's almost as though it's forgotten, and then we too quickly move on to deeper-seated issues of Jase's.

If you're a romance reader, you'll know that there's a kind of formula of events when reading one. May the Best Man Win definitely follows that path, but I thought Mira Lyn Kelly did a really good job with pacing everything out so it didn't feel like Jase and Emily were suddenly in love with one another and then just as suddenly torn apart by one or both of their hang-ups. Typically, I find when this is the case, the ending leading into the HEA can feel a bit rushed, but not here. Mira Lyn Kelly handled it all so well. The progression was spot on to make every event / moment truly count.

Of course, the secondary characters play just as important a part as the main characters since typically these are the characters who will go on to be featured in their own books down the line. I think it's safe to say that Jase's group of friends is the main center point of this, and I really liked all of them.

May the Best Man Win was a sweet, romantic, somewhat steamy read, and I look forward to reading the next book in the series.

This was a super cute audio.

May the Best Man Win was one of those random books I chose on my audible to listen to. I need books to help me get through my days/weeks at work. Fortunately for me, I ended up liking this book and ended up getting the second one from this series.

In this book, you will meet Jase and Emily. They have a past because they used to be friends. They had a crush on each other but never took the dive from friends to lovers. Emily ended up dating one of his best friends which really did a number on their friendship. Well their lucks turns from bad to worst since they have mutual friends.. who end up getting married. They go to the same four weddings.. where they eventually take that dive.

Now the smut and their chemistry was so freaking good! I really enjoyed getting to know them and watch their little cat and mouse game. Everyone saw the attraction and the sexual tension so I was really happy that no one really tried to keep them apart.

Overall, I enjoyed the book. It did start off a bit slow but it picked up rather quickly. I enjoyed the ending and I can't wait to dive into the second book of this series.

A fun wedding-centered romance

There was a lot to like about this story. It was a humorous tale of Jase and Emily and their torrid history. They are always being thrown together in wedding processions because they're similar heights, but they can't stand one another. They spend most of their time throwing insults at each other for the time they're forced to be together. They have a history that stems back to high school that is hinted at, but it takes forever for you to get an idea what the real problem was. I was a little torn while reading this for a few reasons. I was quite involved in the story because I liked the history and seeing how the relationship progressed, but at times there were things that made me confused about what was happening and where we were in time. It jumps forward a lot to fast forward you though their tale, but I wanted it to slow down a little. It is a delicate balance when writing this type of story to make sure all the good stuff is in there. The important things definitely were included, but perhaps I was so invested in the story that I just could not get enough. Jase was hot and it was fun to see the man being the one pushing the relationship while the woman is the hesitant one. The bedroom scenes sure were hot, and my pulse was pounding with every kiss. There is mild conflict and drama, but overall the story is pretty light-hearted and fun to read. I'd recommend this as a great summer beach read. I received a copy of this story for an honest review.
