I really enjoyed this biography. It sorta felt like curling up in front of the fire with a cup of tea and participating in a conversation about Mister Rogers. I read this one a little more slowly than most books -- picking it up a couple nights a week and savoring the sections I was currently reading. I often found myself nodding and agreeing as I read. I was expecting some child psychology knowledge to be presented, which I did receive; however, I also learned a bit about the behind the scenes of a television show. So, it was really so much more than just a book about one man's life and in a way, he continues to educate us through yet another outlet - albeit one framed around his life and how he was shaped into the man he became. Fred Rogers was such a kind and wise soul. What a gift it would have been to have met him and spent some time chatting about life.

My main goal in life is to be as much like Fred Rogers as possible and this biography just confirmed it.

Had to give up and DNF after listening to four discs. This was really disappointing because I loved Mister Rogers and I still love LeVar Burton (he narrates the audiobook) - two of my childhood heroes. I just couldn’t take anymore repetition or super long, meandering old people stories. The author and every person he interviewed/researched for this book comes across as long-winded. I have no idea why they didn’t edit out at least a quarter of this whole thing. I’m going to watch the recent movie, Won’t You Be My Neighbor?, instead and save some time.

Quite thorough hagiography of Fred Rogers. Not *everything* there is to know about him, but pretty close. If you can’t go to the Fred Rogers Institute in Pennsylvania, this is the next best thing.

A bit too much of a hagiography for my taste, but I did enjoy it. It‘s more substantial parts explore how Mr. Rogers and Sesame Street reflect the dominant 20th century schools of thought in childhood development and education.

Listened to the audiobook read by Lavar Burton and it was so great and inspiring. Learned a lot, smiled a lot and really enjoyed this title. He was quite the human.

Well this was heart-wrenchingly touching and inspiring. 100% recommend if you’re looking for some non-fiction for your reading list.

I didn't give this 5 stars because it could drag at times, but overall it is an excellent biography not just of Fred Rogers, but of the "work" that he created. There is much to be learned from the life and work of Fred Rogers; if we would only heed it. If we would only be more Fred-like would a wonderfully kind planet we could live on.
