I normally adore her books and she is one of those authors that I automatically buy her books without really seeing if others liked them or not. I like her writing style in general but I do have to say that her stories are getting increasingly unsatisfying as the years go by. In Red Mist for example, I didn't like that all the action and revelations were revealed in the last chapters. It seemed like it was all in a rush to get out. It would have been better with some development in the plot. Sometimes the plot just seems to run off in every different direction and I am left with a "what just happened" mindset. All in all, the premise is ok, the writing is ok, but it didn't leave me satisfied in the end.

This is one of the better Scarpetta books. Yes, there is a lot exposition, but I enjoyed the technology-talk. The rest of the, at times repetitive, story - not so much. The hints are dropped left and right, but the plot twist is somewhere else. It's getting unbelivable, that the core of characters are again, personally wrapped up in this case.
This is the newest book in the series dad owns. I know there are a lot more, but I will be taking a break now.

I really enjoyed this Scarpetta book, though I found Kay to be really brittle at times. This was a sad one altogether though.
Intriguing... Kept me turning the pages to see how this story would all come together. A bit predictable and a lot of the same stuff happening with the usual crowd, but an enjoyable read.
Very happy to see the Kay Scarpetta of old once again. There was such a departure from the last two books, that I wasn't sure I'd ever see her again. This was a great story, with all the usual twists and protocol, and confusion. But, I really enjoyed it.
My first Patricia Cornwall. Very fun. I am looking forward to another.
Better than the last few. I get tired of all of the angst among the characters. Pretty decent storyline.
I don't know.....I keep telling myself to not buy the next one but, I always do. I used to LOVE these characters. The books used to be about them AND the mystery. Now, they're just about how gory we can make it. The characters are an after-thought.
I really need to stop buying these books.

I read this book in June as part of Pride month. Overall an enjoyablevread, though the books are getting repetitive (this is number 19 in the series) and a lot about the main character, Dr Kay Scarpetta, a bit too much for my liking.
I use to love this series and would buy each book as soon as they were released, but not anymore. I guess earlier on there was less competition in this type of books written by women.

So I needed a book at the airport and I picked this one up. I think the last Scarpetta book I read was about 4 years ago, but this was just like riding a bike after a long hiatus. Even though I missed a few stories in between, the book brought me up to speed on everything I missed and I felt like I was visiting my old friends Kay, Lucy, Marino and Benton. This is the reason I gave it 4 stars, even though the storyline was more of a 3 star for me.
