I must be an eternal optimist. Nothing else could explain why I keep reading this series. The early books made me grin, if not laugh out loud. Unfortunately, the same jokes and situations, pretty much unchanged over the last several books, have grown stale. To be fair, the "mystery" in this one was a bit more engaging where it involved Ranger and his past, and Stephanie actually did do something smart in the bad-guy face-off, but it wasn't enough to save the book. Actually, Stephanie herself summarized things well:

“I’d had a less tumultuous transition from childhood to adulthood, but somewhere in my twenties I feel like I got stalled in the process and now I’m drifting, marking time without any great passion to move forward. It could be that I’m just liking where I’m at and want to stay there a while longer. Still, it would be helpful if I could get motivated enough to buy a toaster.”

Time to grow up and move forward. At this point, not even a new toaster could heat up any passion for the series in this reader.

this books are getting a bit silly and out dated, but I go back each time because I just have to know what's going to happen next...

Fun, silly, and fast reading, as always. I feel like these should all have 3.5 ratings, because they're not going to win any hoity-toity lit awards anytime soon, but they're just...fun. Now comes to long, long, long wait for the ebook of 22...

A great story as usual. Fun and easy reading.

Another solid read. The funny parts were not as prevalent in this book, but it was still a fun read. I love the characters and do not know how she will pick a guy. Loved Briggs in this one.

Another great tale of the trials and tribulations of Stephanie Plum. There is Ranger and Morelli, explosions and shootings, some mysteries and Grandma. Exactly what I needed.

I enjoyed it but I keep waiting for her to pick one of her men. Or one of them to commit to her.

Another fun adventure with Steph and the gang. This one has an international espionage element, and Grandma is trying to terrorise Grandma Morelli. Fun and fast-paced.
