Learned about some bosses but would have liked much more information.

I like it, but I was hoping for more. Even though the artwork was lovely, I thought it would more than a little biography snippet and a single quote per person.

very good. Only flaw is that the bios could've been more detailed.

"...Love is really more of an interactive process, it's a verb, not a noun."

This collection gathers portraits of black luminaries, drawn by Wimberly in 2015-2017, and was published by Image Comics in 2017.

Fantastic art, all done in the pop style + colors, and quotes from a variety of people from 19th-21st century. Wimberly includes a short bio of each person, and also cites where he got the quote - some from published works, some from radio and television interviews, and a few from conversations.

FINAL RATING: 7/10 ★★★,5

A tiny book with quotes by black personalities and portraits of them. It's no more than that, but it doesn't need to be. The biographies of some people made me look them up and put some other books about certain topics on my TBR. Recommend, it's on Hoopla!

The illustrations are lively and impactful, and the quotes and the people represented run an impressive gamut. I appreciate the tiny bios opposite each illustration that provide additional context.
