To be honest, this book went over my head. Piers went way into the science instead of the fiction in this book, and I had to struggle to keep from nodding off. The book focused less on the storyline and more on how Chronos' office worked. I believe it would have been better if I had skipped this one.

I've not read Piers Anthony before and, since he's a fairly big name that I've heard many times, I thought I should have. Maybe I got the wrong book to start with, but, man, this was a slog. The book meandered all over the place with way too much philosophical blather and way too little plot and character development. As a female reader, I got really tired of how we couldn't have a female character without getting a full analysis of her physical attractiveness. I didn't know the full physical details of the male characters after all. Although the writing is quite smooth and sometimes even beautiful, I don't think I'll be back for more by this author.

honestly this was a slow book for me, plus it had a bunch of logic and semi math stuff in it that caused my brain to go NO!!! I got through it and am debating on whether or not I want to read the rest of the series. I did read the 1st one as well which was a bit better, but still not my favorite Piers book.

This was the hardest one for me...it actually took me 3 tries to get through it, but it is really worth it! Especially since it helps with other books in the series.

Not quite the same punch as the first book, and a lot more sexism, but a good story all in all.

The first place I ever found the 'living time backwards' trope.

In brief, not my favorite of the series. I very much like the tale and character of Chronos, but a large portion of the novel is pointlessly sidetracked by the "trips" taken to far off places (hard to explain, without spoilers).

I have read this many times before I joined Goodreads. Time to reread so I can comment. I loved the first half and then got a bit bogged down in the fantasy world stuff. The first visit was fine but the last one went on way too long for me. The Xanth books and the Incarnation books are two different approaches to magic and fantasy and I felt this one had a bit too much Xanth in it.
